Supportive Whitmore Event

Posted on

Whitmore School community,
We are excited to share an end-of-the-year event that will be both fun and raise money for a cause that is close to our hearts and has touched everyone in our school. In order to show our support for Miss Johnston, many teachers have offered their time and talents to come up with “experiences” that they will share with students in a fundraising effort. These experiences are being offered through a raffle whereby the kids can purchase tickets and then put them into the drawing for the experience (or experiences) of their choice. Parents of winning students will need to provide transportation to and from the location of the event. Teachers will work with winners to find a mutually agreeable date and time that works for everyone, and we expect most of these experiences to take place during the summer. Drawings will take place June 11. Tickets will be $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Tickets sales will take place in the mornings before outdoor lineup and at selected school events these last few weeks of the school year. In addition, tickets will be sold by staff going around to classrooms at the beginning of the day on limited days.

So far, our list includes:

Lunch at Buddy’s Pizza with Mrs. Malone
A visit to Greenfield Village with Mrs. Coleman and Mrs. Pung
Putt-putt golf and go-cart riding at Midway Sports with Mrs. Ronchetto

M-STEP Testing

Posted on

Dear Parents,
It is that time of the year for the 3rd Grade M-STEP Test. We really have been working hard and learning a lot. The students are getting ready to take this very important assessment, beginning tomorrow, but the testing window will take place over the next couple of weeks. The assessment will encompass skills that the students have learned from the beginning of school through third grade.
Please make sure your child is ready for each day of testing, by making sure they: get a full night of sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive to school on time. It is important to encourage your child to do their best on this test. Please give them a few extra words of encouragement and positive comments to help them reach for success. Let’s truly expect them to do their absolute best!

Test Dates:
Wednesday, May 8 and Thursday, May 9 – ELA
Tuesday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 15 – Math

Blessings in a Backpack

Posted on

Dear Families,
Today after school, 3rd Grade teachers and some volunteers will be helping with the Dearborn Blessings in a Backpack program. This is an opportunity to give back to the community, including Whitmore-Bolles students. I have contacted the parents of students who were interested in participating, however, all parents and students from our grade are more than welcome to come and help out. This will take place at Christ Episcopal Church located at
120 N. Military St. Dearborn, MI 48124. It will start at 4:00 and last about 45 minutes. The students who attend are required to have an adult supervisor/helper with them the whole time. Thank you for time and support!
