Week 3 of Remote Learning and Google Classroom Student Post
Posted onDear families,
I hope this message find you as healthy as possible. It is hard to believe that we are on our third week of remote learning. We almost have everyone connected to our Google Classroom, in addition, to a lot of learning activity on our IXL learning site and Zearn. Please keep up all of the flexibility, dedication, and hard work you have reinforced with your child’s learning. I have attached the Google Classroom message that I have included to our kiddos.
Good morning to all of my students! I really miss each and everyone of you so much! I hope you had a nice and relaxing weekend with your family. Hopefully, all of you and your families are continuing to doing well.
Please see all of the new assignments. I have reorganized each subject, so the older assignment appears first and the newest ones appear last, to help keep you in order and on track.
This week, I would love to see all of your faces and smiles that I am truly missing. I would like to see some pictures of what you are doing during your time learning at home. Please send me a few pictures - they can be of you completing some type of learning task, your learning space at home, being with your family (including pets), or just something you would like to share. I would like to make a slideshow with all of you and I will also be including some of myself and my family at home too.
Please continue to be safe, be good to your family, keep your head up, and stay busy learning!
- Mrs. Travis

Google Classroom Reminder
Posted onParents,
Hopefully, today is another day filled with good health and hope!
Again, I know that our new and current normal is a huge change and a work in progress, I just wanted to note a few things in Google Classroom that I have been noticing, while trying to make class announcements on and/or comment to students as they turn in work. I know your plates are very full right now, but if you could just take a moment to reinforce this with your child, it will help make their learning time on the platform and learning sites more meaningful! I appreciate your time and support even through such altering times. If you could please remind students:
- To complete all of the Google Classroom work in order. They can choose which order to work on each subject, but if they didn’t complete last week’s work, doing that first is important. This includes the lessons suggested/assigned in IXL too.
- They have to complete a task or assignment before they “Turn it in” in Google Classroom. If they turn it in blank or don’t attach their answers, the assignment will get returned, so they can make their best attempt.
- Make sure they are turning in the assignments in Google Classroom and not just sharing them with me through e-mail (it helps keep them organized and allows me to provide feedback in the same way.
Your support, patience, and flexibility is sincerely appreciated!! As always, you know how to contact me with any questions!
Week 2 Social Work Support Form from Ms. Johnston
Posted onWeek 2 of Remote Learning
Posted onDear families,
I hope this weekend allowed you to get some time in to relax and be together. Hopefully this message is also finding you as healthy and safe as possible. I miss all of my students very much and hope that they are doing well, especially under these very different circumstances.
As you know, today starts our second week of remote learning. I hope that week one allowed students and parents to get settled in at home and begin becoming familiar with Google Classroom, IXL, and the other learning opportunities and resources. Remember, I realize a whole lot of change has happened very quickly for most of us, so if you feel behind or haven’t had a chance to get started, it’s definitely not too late to jump on our new learning adventure.
I am also going to attach the post that I included in Google Classroom this morning for the students for this week to help get their week started and guide them into being on track (or of course, as close to track that they are able to get, considering so many additional schedules and circumstances). Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns. I hope you have a nice Monday.
Good morning to all of my boys and girls!
I hope all of you and your families are doing well and feeling healthy. I also hope that each and everyone of you had a nice and easy going weekend. If you would like to tell me about your weekend, please send me an e-mail.
Hopefully by now, each of you have had an opportunity to explore our Google Classroom. Again, this is the platform that we will be using to continue guiding you into our remote learning. Please always remember to try your best on each assignment. Don’t forget to try checking our Google Classroom daily (or as often as you are able to), as new assignments will be posted as we go through this process. If you are just getting started or not quite finished with last week’s work, please complete all of the first week’s assignments fully (Week 1 – Week of 3-15-20) and then move into this week (Week 2 – Week of 3-22-20). Some things need to be completed and submitted right in this platform, while others will require you to log in to other learning sites, such as IXL or Zearn. Don’t forget, each log in and password for IXL are posted on our classroom blog from last week. When you are working on lessons/assignments, in IXL, or on Zearn, please carefully follow the order of the lessons described in each Google Classroom assignment to help get the most meaning and reinforcement out of each lesson.
If you have extra time or finish early, you can use some of the other wonderful resources to help reinforce and enhance your learning. These are not the only ones (**Remember, the front of your planner should have your log in information for some of the additional platforms that require them, such as: Zearn, Prodigy, and Epic), but you can use:
– Zearn (this is currently suggested as part of your continued individual practice continuing where you are through the end of Module 3 (for right now – this will be extended as we go and depending on the amount of time we will be out of the building)).
-Prodigy (math practice)
-MobyMax – you must log in through Clever from the student portal page (reading, ELA, and math practice)
-Epic (reading practice)
-Read Theory (informational reading practice)
-StoryOnline (great selection of books)
Also, it is still important for you to complete your daily reading minutes from your book bag (Good-Fit books). Since we will be out of school for some time, if you finish all of the books in your bag and have carefully reread them, please be sure to use the additional reading resources that will help you gain access to more books. It’s also just as important to keep practicing and memorizing your math facts! You can do this through the assigned IXL fact practice, MobyMax – fact fluency, on the sprints in Zearn, using mathfactcafe.com, or coming up with another way to practice, repeat, improve, and memorize all of your addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts.
Stay safe, soak in time with your family, continue to learn lots, and take breaks for physical activity and exercise!
Social Work Google Form
Posted onParents,
Please take a look at the following Google Form provided by Ms. Johnston and complete it if you are in need of these services. She has created a Google Classroom (which I am included on as a co-teacher) for those students on her caseload, but we want to make sure all students who need support services are being reached too. Thank you for your time.
Thank you!
Posted onParents and students,
I just wanted to say thank you for your follow through with our current remote learning. I am proud of how many of you have been working away and completing different activities. Please remember, this is really a learning experience for all of us. This week’s assignment were not given a specific due date, but the hopes are that these can be completed by the end of the week, so new materials and information can be given each Monday. I know that every circumstance is different, with the ability for one on one parent support, technology restrictions, and schedules varying, so any of the time you are putting forward into this process is honestly appreciated. If you have not yet had a chance to begin our online learning opportunities, please check out all of the recent blog posts for updated details, log in information, and resources. You will hear me repeat this over and over, but from the bottom of my heart, I hope each and every one of you are staying physically and emotionally as healthy as possible. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
Google Classroom Message to Students
Posted onGood morning parents. I just wanted to copy a message in my blog that I included as a note to the students in Google Classroom. Thank you for your support and patience!
Hi boys and girls!
I hope all of you are doing well. I know that this is quite a different style of school than all of us are used to, but I know we will do our best to get through this temporary classroom set-up and continue doing the best learning possible. I hope each of you have had an opportunity to explore our Google Classroom. This is a platform that will help guide you into learning and assignments. Please always remember to try your best on each assignment.
Please always check the Google Classroom daily, as new assignments will be posted as we go through this new process. Some things need to be completed and submitted right in this platform, while others will require you to log in to other learning sites, such as IXL. Your log in and password for IXL are posted on our classroom blog. Even for this site, please carefully follow the order of the lessons described in each Google Classroom assignment.
