Announcement

ANNOUNCEMENT: Hello Families,

Moving forward, we will be utilizing online instruction. We will post assignments each week for you to complete. We need a few days to transition everything online, but wanted to update you with what to look for next week.

Next week, you will write a CERERC talking about how Anne’s character has changed throughout the play. This will be typed and we will provide sentence stems, a mentor text, and the PDF of Anne Frank for you to use. We will also provide a rubric, so you know what to expect.

We will also transition the Act 2 assessment to a Google Form for you to take as a quiz at home. You will be allowed to use the play, but avoid using your notes. By assigning this assessment next week, you can take the test with the play fresh in your brain and we will work on corrections options for students who want to improve their score.

We want to work together to wrap up our Anne Frank unit over the next week. Transitioning to online will take some adjustment for everyone and we will work through it together.

Please reach out to us with concerns or questions and we will do our best to answer them.

Stay well!
Ms. Timpf, and Ms. Schafer

These actions will not eliminate the COVID 19 virus, cure COVID 19,  and this will not guarantee that a person will not contract the COVID virus at a later time. Again, these actions are part of a nationwide effort to slow the spread and limit the number of people who will become infected.

Week of March 2nd-6th

Today we began reading The Diary of Anne Frank Act 2. We will also be completing some comprehension questions to analyze the characters and conflicts within the drama.

Please refer to my previous post for the copy of the entire ANNE FRANK PLAY that we have been reading in the red literature books.

For bellwork we are focusing on PSAT sample questions that students might see on assessments in ELA or the reading section of the PSAT.

Thanks,

Ms. Timpf & Ms. Schafer

Musical Theatre Opportunity for Middle School

The Edsel Ford High School Performing Arts Department will be presenting our production of Disney’s “Freaky Friday – A New Musical” in May 8-9 and 15-16.

Mr. Doyle will be opening up the ensemble to students from grades 5-8 who attend one of our Feeder Schools or have siblings at EFHS. In addition to the ensemble, there is also one principal role for the younger brother, Fletcher.  (Actor to play 7-10 yr old)  He must be able to sing and use two different hand puppets.

Auditions will be held on Thursday, March 5th from 4-6 pm. Audition materials will be taught at the audition. Students should be prepared to read from the script, sing, and dance. Students do NOT need to have previous experience, only a willingness to commit to working on the show and learn.

Interested students who can not attend during that time need to contact Robert Doyle at doyler@dearbornschools.org. Any further questions may be directed to Robert Doyle at the email above.

Week of January 5, 2020

Dear Families,

Students are working in class to analyze textual evidence that most strongly supports an analysis of what the text says explicitly. The text we are using to carry out this task is the play “The Diary of Anne Frank,” which is attached for you below. This story is written as a drama and has 2 Acts with 5 scenes. After each scene, students will work in a small group with the teacher or independently to answer questions from the reading. As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Ms. Timpf & Ms. Schafer
