Thesis Statement Review

Hello Students,

Your homework for tonight is to complete the Thesis Statement Work Sheet. It has 2 parts and is worth 20 points.

For those of you having a hard time, use the internet! Try to find some sources that will help YOU understand thesis statements. Sometimes you just need someone else to explain it to you! I have two videos below that you might want to watch for help. Keep in mind that sometimes different language arts teachers use different vocabulary. For example, the video below uses “Claim” for “Position” and “Point” for “Claim” or “Reason.” The information and steps are the same though!

Once you feel like you have a strong understanding of thesis statements, try these activities. Bring questions you have tomorrow. Remember, I can’t help you if you say, “I don’t get it.” Think specifically about what you are having a hard time with! Use a TRF thought process if that helps.

Argumentative Essay Re-Writes

Students,

You have received your argumentative essay grade. If you have below a 14/20, you are able to make corrections and resubmit the essay in for partial credit back. Review the comments I made and fix those errors before re-submitting. You MUST resbumit by November 22nd in order to take advantage of this opportunity.

You may see me during A2, lunch, class during work time when other students do not need me on the current assignment, and after school for help. If you see me during lunch or after school, please let me know at least a day ahead of time.

Thank you,

Ms. Timpf
