Remember, your outline and introduction paragraph should be complete for tomorrow. We discussed the importance of staying on top of your work each week, so make sure you do! Directions are below.

How Do I Write an Introduction?!?! Well, you need three parts…

Hook- grabs the reader’s attention

• Strong Statement
• Facts
• Personal Examples
• Humor
• A descriptive Image
• NO QUESTIONS! Challenge yourself!

Background- give information needed to give a complete picture of your essay

• Title
• Author
• Story summary (3 sentences)

Thesis Statement

Restate the question! Include your position Include your claims Make sure it is a complete sentence

DO NOT use “I” DO NOT ask a question DO NOT include evidence
