Hyperbole, Onomatopoeia, and Personification

Hello O. L. Smith Community,

This week, we are learning about poetic devices. Yesterday, we learned about metaphor and simile. Today, we covered hyperbole, onomatopoeia, and personification. Below is the assignment that is due on 5/18.

Write a short personification poem from the perspective of this sofa. Your poem should tell us why the couch is sad. Use hyperbole and onomatopoeia to exaggerate the sofa’s story.

Include one correct metaphor for +2 extra credit.
