Alliteration, Rhyme, and Repetition Assignment
Hello O. L. Smith Community,
Today, we discussed alliteration (repetition of beginning sounds in a line), rhyme (repetition of end sounds in a stanza/verse), and repetition (repetition of words/phrases through a song/poem). If you need some help, use this PowerPoint.
For your assignment, you have been asked to locate alliteration, rhyme, and repetition in a song or poem. You should copy and paste the lyrics into a word document and double space it, so you have room to write. The top should have the title and artist listed. You only need to analyze two verses and the chorus. Your song must have at least one example of all three! If you do not want to use a song, you may find a poem.
Highlight or underline the alliteration.
Write the rhyme scheme using A, B, C, etc. If you need a reminder, there is a video here.
Circle the repetition.
Some songs you can use are…
Let It Be by: The Beatles
Bad Blood by: Taylor Swift
Firework by: Katy Perry
Happy by: Pharrell Williams (delete “yeahs” in the second verse to find rhyme)
Uptown Funk (Clean) by: Mark Ronson
Up! by: Shania Twain
