Hello Room 108 Families,
I hope you all had a restful break! Although we only had two days of school, we learned so much! Before I share what we learned about this week, please read these important announcements:
Announcements
VIRTUAL SCHOOL ON TUESDAY, MARCH 1
On Tuesday, March 1st our class will be held virtually. I have added our schedule for the day at the bottom of the blog. You may click directly on the links in the document for the different parts of the day. We will meet on Zoom at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The Zoom link is in the file.
You will need the materials from this month’s Parent Meeting for the Activity With a Grown Up assignment. Those materials are listed in the schedule.
I will need to take attendance for this day, so it is very important that you come to both meetings for me to mark your student present. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
UPDATED DISTRICT MASK POLICY
As of Wednesday, February 23, Dearborn Public Schools’ mask policy has been updated. Masks for staff and students is now optional. If you prefer your child to wear their mask, please let me know. Click here to read about the policy on Cotter’s website.
What Did We Learn About This Week?
We had DUPLOS coming out of our ears this week as we continued our STEAM exploration! We used the CARGO CONNECT map to help us learn the different ways mail can be delivered. The students noticed that some areas were surrounded by water and the delivery truck could not drive in the water. The students used the DUPLOS to build bridges for the delivery truck! They reflected on their learning by writing about it in their writing journals.
We also talked about how mail transportation innovates, or changes. The students talked about the many different ways that mail can get transported and delivered. Some of the ideas the students came up with were airplanes, trains, cars, helicopters, and boats. After building their transportation vehicles, the students wrote about them in their writing journals.
