Hello Room 108 Families,
January is just about over, and February is right around the corner! The students are enjoying every minute of school! Keep reading to see what we learned this week:
What Did We Learn About This Week?
Our letter this week was J. The students talked about words that start with J (juggle, jump, jump rope, etc.). The students found letter J all over the classroom! Letter J was on Message Board, on the carpet, and on the calendar! Talk to your child about words that start with letter J!

Our class recently received the FIRST Lego League Discover grant! This is so exciting! In our grant, we received four boxes of the Duplo STEAM Park and the STEAM Discovery Set. With this grant, our students can increase their skills in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics!
We continued our transpiration exploration using the STEAM Park. The students broke up into their small groups. The students were given a task to build something that involved transpiration. The students used their knowledge from previous lessons to build different types of cars, boats, buses, and more! Check out their work:
Last Week of LAHC
Tuesday was our last day with the LAHC program. Ms. Kasey, Ms. Kim, and Ms. Endrina were fan favorites in our classroom! For the past six weeks, these amazing teachers came in to talk to the students about personal hygiene, healthy eating, and exercise.

Please complete the LAHC survey that was sent home this week and return it to school on Monday! If you wish to complete it online, click on this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScFrrY8Fz0yjb8OxpojZyauwVcvzrl-_jZkZQpqrFnO639Hgw/viewform

Mask Up!

Families,
Please make sure you are packing your child with extra masks in their backpacks. Masks get easily dirty and/or lost. We want to make sure your child is safe and always has a mask on hand.
Masks must be worn by adults in the school when dropping off and picking up the students. This is to ensure the safety of everyone!
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Fun Activity Idea
How long does it take to melt snow? Does it take 3 minutes, 30 minutes, or 2 seconds? Have your child practice their science skills by making a prediction for how long it takes for snow to melt. Go outside with your child and put snow in a bowl. Watch the snow melt with your child while timing the snow melt. As the snow is melting, talk to your child about their observations.
- What do you see?
- Tell me what is happening.
- Do you think we can make the snow melt faster? How?
