Announcements

Hello and happy Thursday! We successfully completed another week of online/remote learning! Thank you all for your patience and cooperation during this time. Before we start today’s activities, here are some announcements:

Memorial Day: No School Friday, May 22 & Monday, May 25
There is no school on Friday, May 22 and Monday, May 25 due to Memorial Day. Next week, we will resume online/remote learning on Tuesday, May 26.

Phone Calls and Personal Activities for TODAY, Thursday, May 21
Mrs. Askar and I will be calling families who scheduled a Thursday phone call today from 12-3 PM. We will be calling from a blocked phone number, so please do not be alarmed. If you miss our call, we will leave a message. If you would like a call back, please message me on Remind.
I will send your child’s personal activities on Remind later this morning.

Free Meal Distributions Schedule Change (Week of May 18)
Due to the Memorial Day weekend, here is a minor schedule change this week for the free meal distributions. Here is this week’s schedule:

  • Friday, May 22: No meal distributions

Free Meal Distribution Schedule Change for Remainder of School Year
Here is the new schedule for free meal distributions for the remainder of the school year:

  • Monday, May 25: No meal distributions
  • Wednesday, May 27: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
  • Friday, May 29: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
  • Monday, June 1: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
  • Wednesday, June 3: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
  • Friday, June 5: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
  • Monday, June 8: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
  • Wednesday, June 10: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM

Literacy Activity

Today, we are going to learn about the letter, “X, x.” Encourage your child to watch these videos about the letter, “X, x”:

After your child is done watching the videos, I encourage them to do these two things:

  1. Practice writing the letter, “X, x” three times. Your child should write capital, “X,” three times and lower-case, “x,” three times.
  2. Practice saying the letter, “X, x,” sound.

Math Activity

We are going to continue learning our teen numbers. Today’s number is 16. 16 means ten and six more:

Here are the directions for today’s math activity:

  1. Watch my video of the number 16: CLICK HERE
  2. Count 16 items in your house (examples: 16 forks, 16 snacks, 16 steps, etc.)
  3. Write the number 16 three times

Work Time

I encourage your child to engage in imaginary play for at least 60 minutes a day. To keep the consistency with what we do at school, I encourage you to follow the Plan, Do, Review process. Here is the Work Time process:

  • Planning Time (5 minutes): Build your child’s ability to organize their time by having them make a “plan” with you about what they would like to play with.  Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Adults make plans all the time to organize their thoughts (shopping lists are made before going to the grocery store, to do lists are made to help plan your day etc..).  
    Kids will tell you what they are planning to do/want to play with/how they will use toys at home. 
    التخطيط لوقت العمل ( وقت اللعب): ساعد طفلك على بناء مهارة تنظيم الوقت بوضع خطة  معهم عن لعبهم. هذا ما كان يفعله كل الطلاب كل يوم في المدرسة. هذا يساعد الأولاد على تنظيم أفكارهم. الأهل أيضا يضعون خطط دائما لتنظيم أفكارهم مثل قائمة التسوق قبل الذهاب إلى المتجر, كتابة القوائم تساعد على تنظيم اليوم….. 
    الأولاد سوف يخبروكم ما هي خطتهم/ ماذا سيلعبون/ مع من سيلعبون/ ماذا سيستخدمون من أدوات في لعبهم.
  • Work Time (45-60 minutes): Kids play WITHOUT ELECTRONICS  Kids can use toys to pretend play, build, and create.
    وقت العمل :  يجب أن لا يستعمل الأولاد الإلكترونيات . يستطيع الأولاد استخدام الألعاب التي تساعدهم في  التخيل و البناء و الإبداع  
  • Clean Up: When Work Time is over, encourage your child to clean up the area(s) they played in.
  • Recall (5-10 minutes): Build your child’s memory of events by having your child tell you what they did while they played (ask “tell me how you did that” or “what did you do next?”)
    وقت التذكر: بناء ذاكرة الأولاد و مراجعة الأحداث عن طريق جعل طفلك يعيد سرد ما قام به خلال وقت اللعب( اسال طفلك: اخبرني كيف قمت بذلك؟ أو ماذا فعلت بعد ذلك؟)

Outdoor Explortion

Today will be a beautiful day! I encourage you and your child to go outside for 60 minutes today. As a reminder, the Dearborn Public Schools playground equipment and sports fields are closed. This is a great day to go for a walk or play in the yard!
