Congratulations to our 4 nominated students this month! All of them are wonderful students and will have the opportunity to be nominated again. However, there can only be one winner…Congratulations Delilah!!!

Week of 10-19-20

Welcome to a new week! Here’s what’s happening:

As you may have already seen my Remind announcement, all in-person learning labs are on hold. Therefore, starting on Wednesday, October 21, all learning labs will be done on Zoom. I’ve updated the schedule I posted last week so you can see when your child is expected to be online with me in the afternoons.

This week’s spelling words are posted in Your child is expected to go play at least 1 game every day to practice for Friday’s test.

Halloween is coming! In order to celebrate, Dr. Tynan blogged about a Flipgrid challenge. Here is is post:

“In lieu of having a traditional Halloween event, the PTA is having a Halloween Flip Grid Challenge for each classroom. We are asking that each student participate (if you’re comfortable) in making a short flip grid with their costume on. There will be a student chosen from each class to win a prize. More details will be shared by your child’s teacher.

The deadline is 6pm on the 31st but you can submit anytime up to that point just in case your costumes are detailed and it is not convenient for your child to dress up more than once.”

Attached is the flyer for the Halloween Flip Grid.

The first cardmarking ends next Friday, October 30. All assignments are due by midnight that night. You can check out your child’s missing assignments in their Schoology. Ask your child to show you how (I’ve shown them how to view missing assignments). If they don’t remember, let me know and I can help.

With the end of the card marking period, that means report cards and parent/teacher conferences are coming. All conferences are virtual and will be held on November 5, 10 or 17 from 4-7:30 each night. Be on the lookout for a Sign Up Genius coming soon so you can sign up for a time slot.

Welcome to a new week! Here’s what’s happening:

This week’s spelling words have been posted in The students will receive a daily task to complete, with the test being on Friday.

As I told the class Monday morning, I have been summoned for Jury Duty this Wednesday. I will find out if I have to report on Tuesday evening. IF I am required to go in, then your child will have lessons on Schoology to complete, with Zoom meetings limited to special’s teachers only (P.E. with Mr. Vigilante and Science Enrichment with Mrs. Stetz). IF I am not required to report, then Wednesday will be a regular day. I will notify you here, on Remind, AND in Schoology.

If you haven’t signed up for Class Dojo, please do so as soon as possible. Even though our learning is being done differently right now, we are still responsible for our behaviors. So far, we have 5 families signed up. Please click on the link to join:

We will be finishing the math module this Friday. A study guide will be homework on Friday, with a review on Monday. The test will be next Tuesday.

As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please email me at: or text me on Remind.

-We have begun our WEEKLY spelling words. The new list will be given every Monday, with the test being every Friday. Your children were instructed to go to every week to get the words. I will give them a task in Schoology’s ELA Course to complete every day, to help them learn the words.

Week of 9/28/20

Welcome to a new week! Here is what’s happening:

If you picked up an energy kit from DTE, make sure to discuss the activity booklet with your child. If you didn’t get one, but would like one, please let me know so I can make arrangements for you to get one. For more information from DTE, please click on the link:

We will begin our spelling program next Monday, so be on the lookout for new spelling words every Monday.

We are now on Class Dojo. Starting this Thursday, Dojo points will start counting towards rewards and consequences. Make sure to sign up so you can track it with your child. Click on the link to join!

Starting this week I will be notifying you less and less on Remind as to where your child needs to meet me. Your child will need to be online by 8:55 for morning attendance and 12:20 for afternoon attendance. If they don’t switch subjects with me throughout the day, they will be missing a lot of learning. We have a schedule posted so if you’re ever unsure of where and when we’re there, check the schedule or you can always message me.

As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please email me at: or text me on the Remind app.

DTE Energy Kits

This year, your 4th grader will be studying energy in science class. Therefore, we have partnered with DTE to receive free energy kits for every student! Please come get your free kit on Thursday, September 24 between 12:30 and 2:00 on the black top (where I met you and handed out materials during the first week of school). I will also be handing them out, same time and place, on Friday, September 26.

There will be a survey for you to complete online and once everyone fills out the survey, DTE will donate money to our classroom! But we have to have as many families participate as possible, so please help your child and their class! Let me know if you can’t make it or if you have any questions.

Week of 9-21-20

Welcome to a new week! Here’s what’s happening…

We continue our NWEA testing, with math, on Tuesday. Remember, please don’t help your child with answering the questions. I want to get the most accurate scores so that I know how to help them better.

We have begun using Class Dojo! To join my class, click on the link below: Then you can see your child’s daily behavior. Behavior for rewards and consequences will begin on October 1. The end of this month is for practice.

This Thursday and Friday afternoon I will be at school to finish testing some students who had technical difficulties on their Reading NWEA. I will be contacting those families to schedule them. The start time you will be 2:00 and then your child may be picked up when they are done.

Speaking of Thursday & Friday…we have partnered with DTE to give free energy kits to all 4th graders! Please come pick one up for your family between 12:30 & 2 on those days. They are full of great freebies, as well as information about energy for your child (which they will be studying in science this year).

Finally, if your child will be missing any school (illness, doctor appointments, etc.) please remember to call the office to let them know. We need to follow the regular protocols just like a regular school year. Thanks!

As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please email me at: or text me on Remind.

Week of 9-14-20

Welcome to a new week! Here’s what’s happening…

We are continuing to learn on Schoology. Your child MUST be in our Homeroom Zoom meeting at 8:55 in order to be marked present, and then again at 12:20. If not, I have to mark them absent, you will get a robocall, and then I can change the status once they come in. If you are having technical difficulties getting into it, please let me know ASAP.

As per our school board meeting Monday night, in-person Learning Labs have been put on hold because of the Covid rate in Dearborn. As soon as we can hold them, we will let you know.

This week we begin NWEA testing. On Tuesday we spent our time preparing the computers. On Wednesday morning we will take a practice test and Thursday, hopefully, we will take the Reading test. Please help your child to find a quiet spot so that they can concentrate. Please DO NOT help them answer any questions, because I use this test as a tool to help me understand what your child needs in their learning this year.

As usual, if your child is going to be absent, late or leave early, please call our office to let them know. If your child is having technical difficulties, please let me know.

Friday is a Half Day. Our morning will end at 11:55.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at: or text me on Remind.
