Homework is to complete “Math About Me!” Most of this was done in class but make sure you add a picture of yourself, write in complete sentences, color and be neat! A copy of this is in homework attachments in this blog. The homework attachments password can be found on the syllabus.
Reminder: Khan Academy will be graded tomorrow for Summer Learning (480 minutes).
Continue to work on the ILEARN basic skill quizzes. These can be retaken an unlimited number of times and the highest score will count. This is due 9/14.

There are four basic skill quizzes on ILEARN that need to be completed by Friday, September 14. Most students were able to start these in class. These quizzes are timed (10 minutes) but can be retaken as many times as you need to get the highest score.

Copy of Parent Letter Summer Learning_ 2018
Students were informed prior to leaving for summer, that they needed to complete 480 minutes on Khan Academy. The final date of completion for that is this Friday, September 4. Most students added me as a coach in Khan Academy. Some students needed parent approval in order to do so. If your child was unable to add me as a coach in class, here are the coach codes by class.

PLEASE dress as cool as possible tomorrow and bring a water bottle to class! We began the NWEA test today and will continue tomorrow.

We started setting up our Interactive Student Notebook (ISN). Homework is to create a cover page of your choice but be sure to include your name and Math, room 41. Please use clear book tape in order to seal the cover. See example below. Please have it done by Tuesday.
Tomorrow, we will be outside after lunch for our 6th grade team building activities. Please dress comfortably and preferably in gym shoes.

Whew! It was a hot one today, but we are getting acclimated to middle school, lockers, procedures, etc. Today, we read over the syllabus and discussed some expectations and procedures for math class.
The syllabus was sent home but you can find it under the tab, “Class Info”.
Parent, please sign the syllabus and check off to confirm you have signed up for my blog. Return to class tomorrow or by Thursday, please. Try to have your supplies as soon as possible and we will need glue stick, scissor and tape for class tomorrow.

I hope your first day went well! If you’re getting this, you have signed up for the blog and I will be regularly communicating homework and other other information this way. I sent home a note which includes the suggested supplies. Below are a few shots of the model, binder with the additional supplies. You can also find the suggested supply list under class information and the supply tab on the blog.
The next few days will be extra warm, it is a good idea to bring a water bottle to class!

Geometry: The district common assessment for volume of prisms and surface area with nets is tomorrow. The practice test answer key is in homework attachments.
Khan Academy is 25 minutes this week and skills assigned are on data and statistics.
Khan Academy completed after June 1 will count toward Summer Learning Khan minutes. Students have to complete 60 minutes per week or 480 minutes by the first day of school.

Geometry: Quiz Monday on the vocabulary #3. Practice assessment is on ilearn. Quiz also on the pyramids, prisms and their nets. Use your ISN pages 80-82 to study.
