Math Google Meets
We had our first official math class on google meets Tuesday and it was great seeing so many of you there! I will be taking attendance so if you haven’t attended, please do. We will be meeting every Tuesday and Friday using the schedule Block 1 is 11:00-11:20, Block 2 is 11:20-11:40 and Block 3 is 11:40-12:00. If you miss your scheduled Block time, you can go on during another block time. For detailed information and directions about google meets, please go to your math google class. The google class is where you will find the google meet norms and weekly plan for assignments and links to important online tutorials. It is very important that you attend google meets because we will be learning new skills and will need this information to complete your online assignments on Khan, IXL and iReady.
It is very important that you go to the google class you signed up for math. Everything you need will be there. I will not be posting the math weekly plan on the blog!
4/20-4/24 Weekly Plan
Welcome to the first official day of online learning! This is officially the first day because the district plan has been approved and you will be graded on all assignments now. I know so many of you were working hard on assignments the first month we were off and you will earn extra credit at the end of the 4th marking period! Please see the attachment below but go to our google class every Monday to check for the weekly plan.
Week of April 20 to 24 is Equations.
Due date for all work is April 24 by 5:00 pm, I will have your grades posted in the gradebook by Monday of every week.
4/17 Grading updates and other important information
Beginning Monday, we have been given permission to grade all students based on online learning. I know many of you have been working hard on the assignments I have already assigned and I have created a way where you will get credit for the work you have already put in and you will probably have to do less than others who haven’t been because you may have already completed skills on IXL or lessons on iReady. I will post every Monday morning the weeks assignments and they will be due by Sunday. You will see your scores for the week on the grade book Monday. I will be posting the weekly assignments on our new google classroom so if you have not signed up yet, please do! This new plan will begin Monday, so make sure you are following the blog and google class.

All students need to complete the survey by this Thursday, please. It is very short and asking about which advisory you are in and your internet and computer access. Thanks!

I know it has been a difficult time for us all and to hear that we won’t be returning to school this year is stressful and sad. This full time online format is new for all of us and we will be working together to make the most of it. If you have been working on IXL and iReady for the last 3 weeks, you have been working on enrichment. So far, this will be extra credit. We don’t know what is in store exactly for grading for 4th marking period yet, but you can continue to work on what I have assigned through spring break. If you feel like it’s been too much, just work on what you can. If you feel like you want more, for now, continue working on IXL on the Recommendations page and iReady.
After the spring break, I will be providing more specific instructions. We will be utilizing online resources that are available to us including iReady, IXL, Khan Academy, ilearn and Prodigy.
If you’re interested, Mrs. Bailey is offering a google hangout tomorrow and I will be included so you can also ask me any questions or chat. Looking forward to talking and seeing you!

Hope you and your families are all doing well and staying safe and healthy. As 3rd marking period comes to an end, grades were based on all assignments and assessments prior to March 13.
We are going into our 3rd week of school closure and online learning. I have been checking in on IXL progress and many of you are keeping up with skills. If you haven’t, keep working and I can update your progress as you complete skills.
IReady is a great resource and we were lucky enough to gain this program right before the school closure. All of you completed the diagnostic assessment on iReady, so all of the lessons are at your individual level. I am asking you to complete 5 lessons per week and I will be checking progress with iReady as well. You need to be logged into your school account and access the iReady app from Clever.

School Closure Work Update
Hello and hope you and your families are during well. I want to clear up some confusion about the assignment I posted on March 13. I took a screenshot of the IXL page to show you where to go on IXL to access the skills listed in the assignment. There are more than 4 skills assigned! I am posting it below as an attachment. PLEASE OPEN THE ATTACHMENT. The dates I listed are guidelines, however, I understand everyone is working at their own paces and in different environments and situations. Please use these assignments, the IXL, iReady and the packet (packet is in homework attachments) to continue you’re learning and I will be checking progress continuously and posting completions after the 3rd marking period is over.
Sunday, March 22, 2020 Week 1 Closure Update
Hello students and families, I hope you are all doing well under these strenuous circumstances. Last week at Bryant, I helped prep chrome books for students and was hopeful that any students who needed one for home use would take advantage of picking one up.
In my last blog post, I outlined what assignments students will work on during school closure. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me directly (rather than post a comment on this blog). My email is tahar@dearbornschools.org. I will be posting the assignments completion in gradebook every week, however, they will not show up in marking period 3. In fact, I will be placing them in marking period 4 and you will not be able to see them until marking period 3 ends (March 31). These online assignments are meant to help you continue your learning and will be checked for completion. It is not meant to overwhelm or overload, and realistically, if you were in school, you would be working on math for 100 minutes a day at school and I have provided an outline of what you can work on to use this time to do so at home. Ultimately, everyone’s home lives are different and I hope all of you are doing well and staying healthy. If you haven’t started, I will be individually emailing parents to answer any questions and to help with access or any other issues, if I can be of help.
