Many of you need to redo some work and turn it in tomorrow. Many of you need to redo the “warm-up sentences and reading” and the writing on energy pyramids.
Hello Families and Students
Tomorrow during math class we are going to take a few minutes for all students to look at the “student connect” and record any missing assignments in their planners on the Friday, November 18 page. I would then like the students to take the weekend and find and finish any missing work and turn it in by Tuesday. This will give me the holiday break to grade and record their work.
Parents please double check your student’s grades and planners, the second marking period is almost over and for some reason there has been a “record number” of missing assignments. This seems to be an issue for all the 6th grade teams so I am trying to give all the students a second opportunity to turn in all work that they still may have.

Complete p. 59 on dividing fractions (this is the back of yesterday’s homework)
Complete the two “nets” we started in class if you did not finish…ALL WORK MUST BE SHOWN.
Science 3-1 and 3-2
Complete THIEVES
STUDY if you are taking the retake tests tomorrow after school. You must rewrite the questions and correct answers on a separate sheet of paper to take the retake. You will need to stay after school until around 3:30.

Complete the “turkey coordinate grid” from Friday.
Complete p. 58 – dividing fractions – remember to put your answer in simplest form.
Science 3-1 and 3-2
Complete the handout on “food webs/chains” from Friday.
Complete only the “H” and “V” (vocab) on Thieves 1.3 – please make sure you are looking at the correct pages in the book.
If for some reason you did not turn in your writing today then finish it and have it for tomorrow.
Parents and Students-
Many of the grades in science are not too good at all and we only have until early December before this second marking ends. There are two main reasons for these grades, the first is that there are many, many students with many, many missing assignments. Please check the student connect and turn in any missing work by Monday or Tuesday. I will do my best to get all work that is turned in graded and put in the computer by Wednesday or Thursday.
The second reason for the poor grades is low test/quiz scores. The students are at the age when they need to realize that they really need to pay attention in class and really study for a quiz – this is not always necessary in elementary school but studying is critical as the students get older. I will offer retakes for awhile until they learn the importance of studying. We will work together to help the students improve their grades. Hopefully within a couple weeks we will see an improvement in their scores and grades.
Science in the afternoon is tough, the students are tired and not used to having no recess but there are already improvements in behavior so I am pretty confident the improvement in grades will soon follow.

Show your parents your score on yesterday’s quiz.
Study for the unit quiz which is tomorrow. To study for this study the returned quiz, pages 12-16 in your ISN, and your book.
On Monday I will be passing back assignments that have been collected over the past couple of weeks, many of the students still have many missing assignments. Please check student connect and have them turn anything that is missing in….after Monday it will be too late.
