Math 1 and 2

Today and Friday we have been working on “math jobs”, depending on how hard the student has been working in class will determine how much has to be done at home for Wednesday. The following assignments are due on Wednesday: 1.) Multiplying Fractions practice p.52-55.    2.) Multiplying and Dividing Fractions practice -checked with a partner and calculator – work shown p. 43-44,    3.) IXL FF.15 the first ten problems completed on the paper we started in class on Friday with the problems set up the way I modeled in class – Surface Area

If your child does not know their multiplication/division facts fluently please get them flashcards, download a free flashcard app., quiz them and force them to practice.  They WILL struggle all year and the remainder of their schooling until they learn all the basic math facts.

Science 3-1 and 3-2

STUDY all science vocab. words (p. 12-16) that are in the interactive notebooks, reread the chapter p. 8-13 and study the Directed Reading worksheet as a study guide.

If your child is retaking the scientific method quiz have them study the practice for the retake.

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Read the rest of this entry

Math 1 and 2

We began to take the District Common Assessment on paper and the computer. The students are not used to the format so I am being very careful to answer all their questions on this online test, they are also taking a paper version that they are showing all their work.

The only homework for today is to look over their notebooks on multiplying fractions and decimals. Everyone will take a quiz on multiplying numbers with decimals and the students who did poorly last week will retake last week’s quiz also.

Science 3-1 and 3-2

Finish the foldable that we started on Wednesday and finish the Food Web worksheet. MAKE SURE IT IS NEAT AND COMPLETE AND IT LOOKS LIKE A 6TH GRADER DID IT.

Because of conferences and meetings this week I have fallen a little behind adding grades to the computer. I will be working tonight and all weekend on getting caught up. Please keep checking parent/student connect to check on grades.

Tomorrow is spirit day – either wear blue and yellow for UofM or green and white for Michigan State.
