Google Hangout norms :)

  1. Be ready to click the link in google classroom when it is time for your class to meet. Use your school email to enter.
  2. Mute your mic when you enter the hangout.
  3. If you have something to say related to the content we are working on, you may unmute your mic and speak if no one is currently talking; or you may type the message in the chat.
  4. No talking/message writing about other topics. If you need to talk to Mr. Suni about other things, send him an email later.
  5. Behavior issues will be forwarded to Mr. Denison. There are currently Bryant students that have had their technology privileges removed until further notice. Those students are doing paper/pencil packets for the rest of the school year.

My time slot overall is 11-12. At the start of each time slot below, a link will appear in your google classroom. I am not going to post the links on here, you have to be in google classroom to see the link.

On Khan, if you watch a video, you must watch the entire video. If you do, you get an A. If not, you get a 0.

For Khan/IXL assignments:

100% on an assignment = 105% in the gradebook , an A+

75-99% = A

60-74% = B

40-59% = C

Under 40% = No Credit

Some things about this week:

Things can be graded now.  As far as the Khan minutes that you already did this past month, I will eventually put them in the grade book, but I’m going to do it much later, so that anyone that wasn’t able to get online before can get full credit.   Everything can be considered formative going forward. Anything you see go into the gradebook will count the same amount.

Can everyone please use one notebook for the rest of the school year for math?  You can date things you write in it each time.
7th grade math classes will be using google classroom, google hangouts, Khan Academy, and IXL for the 4th marking period.  Please scroll down to the previous blog post and add yourself into the correct google classroom(s).

Each week we will be focusing on one standard, or a couple of very similar standards.  We have a rough schedule figured out, but we are not going to share it all with you now, we want to be able to be flexible if we think we need to change anything.

Hours 1,2: We will be continuing in the Expressions and Equations unit, where our classes left off before school ended.   The first week, the week of April 20, we will be focusing on SOLVING ONE STEP EQUATIONS. This was done in 6th grade, but we can add in negatives and possibly fractions to the equations.  Students need to be able to do these before week 2. We plan on going into 2 step equations April 27.

Hours 4,5,6:  We will be working on things to prepare you for your Algebra class next year with Mr. Brown.  We will first be working in 7th/8th grade Expressions and Equations. Some of it will already have been assigned as Khan work these past 4 weeks.  I will try to give you ixl for additional practice, and I can find some other sources for more practice if need be.

You may have more than one assignment to work on for the week, but they might not all count for a grade in the gradebook.   If you see it show up in the gradebook by the end of the week, it counted!

7th grade math schedule will look like this:

Monday (or maybe Sunday) you will get your assignments for the week.

Tuesday 11:00am – 12:00 pm Video posted/possibly a google hangout. TBD

Friday 11:00am – 12:00pm Google hangouts with our different classes.  This will become more specific later. We plan on posting the links for each hangout, by hour, in google classroom.

Any questions, email me.  sunip@dearbornschools.org

The next blog post will have your assignments for the week of April 20.

Update

Update: There is no update.

Still waiting to hear back from the district as to how 4th card marking will look. Keep checking your email each day as well as your teachers’ blogs. I would guess Monday you will hear something new.
