Homework due Thursday (Math MSTEP day) for all classes…

Instead of a Khan Academy assignment (you can still go on there if you would like) I’m going to have everyone continue to practice on the MSTEP practice site at home. We have been working on it in class but haven’t been able to finish.

So…

due Thursday:

Hours 1,3: Finish working on the 7th grade practice test. (1-32)
Hours 4,5,6: Finish working on the 7th (1-32) and 8th grade (1-28) tests. Do a total of 40 questions between the 2 tests.

Here are the answer keys for both tests (scroll down to 7th/8th):

edit: there is a mistake on the 8th grade math answer key. # 13, 4x + 2 won’t give you “no solutions”, that would give you “infinite solutions.”

Something new on Khan Academy….

We are not going to be able to get to all of the units that we are supposed to cover by the time we take the MSTEP and NWEA tests. (This is the case in every math class in the district). The unit that we are not going to get to in 7th grade is Statistics and Probability. To help out with this issue a bit, I’m going to assign different standards in that unit on Khan Academy in the next couple of weeks. I will let the students know when each one will be due, and I will update them on the blog.
In order to get an “A” on each assignment, students need to get to the “Practiced” level.
They can earn an “A+” if they get to the “Mastered” level.
They can earn a “C” if they are at the “Struggling” level.
They will earn an “E” if they are at the “Needs Practice” level, as that means they have not attempted any of the problems.

There will be no late grades available for these assignments.
They will be formative grades.

The first standard will be “Simple Probability”. It is due on Monday, April 30.
Students can access the standard by clicking their name in the top, right hand corner. I have recommended the standard in their profile.
