Finish the story “Orphan Boy and the Elk Dogs” on pgs.485-492 and fill out the hero’s story analysis sheet, Parts 1 & 2, for Wednesday . you will complete Part 3 in class after discussion. Continue to work on Fahrenheit 451 Part 1 which is due Thursday.

Finish reading “Rama” through page1056 (up to Thataka’s Story) and add your ideas for archetypes and stages to your notes section of your class notebook or binder. Be prepared for analysis tomorrow.

HONORS–In ADDITION to the above, read the introduction and pgs 1-3 of the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Do the following in your NOTES:

1.Reflect upon the quote (epigram) and write your  thoughts.  Quote:  “If they give you ruled paper, write the other way.”

 2. Read the introduction and first few pages (pgs.1-3) of Chapter 1, “The Hearth and the Salamander” for tone and mood.  Write a sentence or two about the tone/mood and list the writing techniques Ray Bradbury uses. Also, include any connections to Anthem that you notice.

QUIZ today! You may finish your first Writer’s Notebook prompt AFTER the quiz. You may also sign up for T-Time, if needed.

Finish writing your evaluative review on the back of your summary card and the visual aid you began in class. It is due at the beginning of class and we will begin presentations. The note card and rubric should be stapled to the back of the visual aid. If you need the Book Talk directions or rubric again, go to the RESOURCES tab at the top of my blog and open it. You can read, review, and print from there. The last half of class will be the Grammar Pre-test. Bring a #2 pencil.
