You should be able to explain the following after reading/annotating/paraphrasing ACT II, sci pgs. 840-43. Make sure your post-its are clear and be prepared to discuss these on Thursday!

Blank Verse–What is it? Who speaks it and why?

Type of conflict established?

Explain the “ladder” analogy used by Brutus

Explain the “serpent’s egg” metaphor

What does the letter ask Brutus to do and what is his decision?

How does he feel about it? Use the “dream” analogy to help you.

Explain the purpose of the allusion to Erebus in Brutus’ comment about the conspiracy.
