Fri 1/10 & Mon 1/13

  • We did the summary table for the tiny puddles investigation on ISN p. 24.
  • They created models explaining evaporation on ISN p. 25
  • They did the end of lesson questions which is part C on the tiny puddles WS.
  • All of this was to help them review for the quiz next class period.

Final Marking period 2 quiz info

  • Marking period 2 ends next week. Our midterm in science will be the end of unit assessment which we are not ready for yet.
  • The 6th and final chance to retake any quizzes for marking period 2 will be Wednesday 1/15. The normal retake procedure applies.
  • There will be one more quiz for the marking period but because the quiz will be given the last few days of the marking period there will be no retakes. The quiz will be on lesson 3 (transpiration and evaporation) but will not include the readings.
  • Anyone who was absent for a quiz or has a missing quiz score for some other reason needs to show up to take the quiz Friday 1/10 or Wed 1/15 after school. They were given notes explaining this. Any un-taken quizzes will count as an E toward their grade. Anyone absent for the quiz next week will need to stay after school Friday 1/17 to take the quiz.

Tues 1/7- Thurs 1/9

I was out sick on Tuesday so the A-day kids had a close and critical reading 4=square sheet and 2 CER’s to write about the article they did Friday before break.

Wed/Thurs we finished and checked the work to go with the shrinking freshwater article. We then started the tiny puddles investigation. The kids did part A in class and also need to finish part B.

Mon 1/6 (B-day only)

  • They read and followed the directions on the article for “Shrinking Freshwater Resources.”
  • They did the back of part 2 (CCR boxes 1-4)
  • The claim and evidence side on part 2 is not homework but the rest should have been finished during class.

  • Transpiration added to isn (p 23)
  • Answer our question about how the forest being cut down and paved over contributed to the stream flooding. (add to isn p 21)

Friday: Shrinking water article and part 2 claim evidence paper- should be done in class

Wed 12/4-Mon 12/9

We did bellwork #18 & 19 on the new bellwork sheet.

We did a group projects where the kids cut and sorted cards to form CER’s. They then made this into a poster. Core 2A did this individually.

We finished the rest of the Lake Erie article and turned it in.

We began the very first part of the next lesson. Answering their ideas about the lesson question is about all we got to.

Yes I am behind on grading papers- I’m working on it I promise…

I will also work on updating google classroom.

Mon 12/2 & Tues 12/3

Quizzes were handed back. I posted the retake procedure below. Some other kids also need to come take the quiz during the retake time because they were absent or something like that. If their quiz score is missing in the gradebook that means they need to come Thursday or Friday when the retake kids come.

We finished part C on the lot model comparison from before Thanksgiving and handed them in along with the lot models.

I gave them an article about Lake Erie. They need to follow the directions on the front and then do only boxes 1 and 4 on the back.

Core 1B is off from the other classes because I was out for a meeting this morning. They finished the whole Lake Erie article and will finish the lot model comparison next time.
