Assignment # 4- Body Systems reading

I posted a new assignment in google classroom.

Parents, if you want to keep track of whether or not your children are doing their online work you can have them log into Google Classroom and Moby Max and show you their progress. I am going to count the online work on the next marking period for a few different reasons. This means you can still make them do the work they haven’t completed.

Today is the last day to turn in the quiz retake. (In Google Classroom)

All late work from before schools shut down is due by Friday 3/27 because Friday is the last day of the term. If kids don’t have their folders everything is in Google Classroom.

I posted a Moby Max help sheet in Google Classroom that might help kids who are having trouble.

Riddles

Kids, if you are bored look up Ted Ed Riddles on YouTube. Stop the video after it gives the riddle and try to figure it out with your family before you keep playing and hear the answer. You might want to preview them first so you don’t play something like the zombie riddle that might scare little ones.

Free meals continue

Just to let you know, schools will still be handing out free meals (breakfast and lunch) to students even with the Governor’s shelter at home order going into effect. I believe Zaman International will also be at school one day this week handing out food and such to families in need. Drive or walk to the staff parking lot by the cafeteria.

Help Please

Do any students want to make a screencast showing others how to log into Moby Max and get to your assignments? I was thinking this might help kids who are struggling still. I can’t see what you kids see so I can’t do it from my account. If one of you makes one I will post it in Google classroom for everyone. Explain what you are doing for the audio while you click on your screen.

I posted assignment #3 in GCR

End of first week closed

The first week of online learning was confusing for us all but we got through it. Hopefully next week will be a little easier. With any luck now that you all know the pattern of the assignments, things will go more smoothly. (Maybe I will go from 75+ student emails a day down to 35.) I have not entered assignment #1 & 2 in the grade book yet because I said you had until Sunday to complete the first week’s work. I gave longer this time to allow for working out confusion. By now you have the technology worked out hopefully and came to borrow a school chromebook if you needed to. My only guess why Moby Max isn’t showing that you completed your work right away is that the server is overwhelmed with millions of kids suddenly working from home across the country.

We are posting grades for marking period 3. Some of you didn’t have a chance to retake your matter quiz or bring your grade up with the unit test we had planned on. For this reason I put an ELA style retake- corrections opportunity in google classroom.

Dearborn schools still has you blocked from videos like at school. You can watch the youtube videos I posted only if you aren’t logged into you school account.

Don’t forget to step away from the screen once in a while. Play in the yard, help your poor stressed out parents, read or play with the little ones, read a good book, talk to friends online, catch up on sleep, do a fun project, etc. Getting outside to take walks has helped me feel less like I’m locked up.

I will post assignment #3 Monday.

Updates

Thank you to those of you are answering each other’s questions in Google Classroom. Being able to get help and contact others was the the reason I turned on comments again. Learning from home is a huge change for all of us. I am required to post work daily. The pacing I suggested for the article was to keep you from having to do too much work at once.

I don’t really have the answer about grades. The answer has changed over the past week. I will be putting the online work into the gradebook so parents can see if students are doing their online work.

Parents I highly suggest you subscribe to the Woodworth Blog. Ms. Hassan posts important information on the blog.

If you have checked out a school Chromebook and are having issues connecting try the steps listed below.
1. Turn off the Chromebook (holding the power button is okay)

2. Turn the Chromebook back on.

3. Connect to your home WiFi.

4. You should see a screen that says “Sign in to your Chromebook”. Leave the Chromebook on this screen for 5-10 minutes.

5. Restart the Chromebook again.

The district is starting an emotional support hotline to help support students and families. Details are below.

Free meals for students while schools are closed

Starting tomorrow (3/17), Dearborn Public Schools will offer free pickup breakfast and lunch to all of our students at any of six school locations.  The grab-and-go meals will be available from 10 a.m. to noon at Fordson, Dearborn, and Edsel Ford high schools, McCollough/Unis, Salina Intermediate and Woodworth. Any child age 18 or younger is invited to receive a meal. One family member can come pick up the food for all the children in the house. There will be a sign saying where to go. I assume for Woodworth that would be the cafeteria.
