Classroom Spotlight

Can you believe we have already been in school for four weeks?! The children have been hard at work learning routines, getting to know their classmates, and building up their fine motor (hand) muscles to get ready for writing. We have also been learning how to play together with friends, as well as being responsible for putting our own toys and materials away when we are done. Please enjoy these pictures from our first few weeks of school!

Picture Day!

Picture day at Henry Ford will be Monday, October 23rd. Order forms will be sent home Monday, October 16th in children’s folders. Each child will have their picture taken for the year book and class composite even if you do not wish to purchase pictures. If you wish to order ahead of time you can do so at mylifetouch.com. If you are paying by cash please make sure to put EXACT CHANGE in your child’s envelope and give it to me on October 23rd. I WILL NOT be able to make change at school.

No Early Release Tuesdays for GSRP Preschool

Dearborn Schools Early Release Tuesdays began this week on Tuesday, October 10th. Please remember the Early Release applies to grades K-12, and that GSRP Preschool DOES NOT follow early release. Our times will remain the same on Tuesdays: 8:35-3:20pm.

U of M- Environmental Interpretive Center Field Trip- Thursday, October 26

Thursday, October 26th will be our first field trip of the school year! This field trip takes the place of our monthly parent meeting and WILL NOT be a regular day of school. Parents should plan to be at door #5 at 9:15am. The bus will leave promptly at 9:30am, if you are late we will not be able to wait for you. Students, parents, and teachers will ride the bus together to Environmental Interpretive Center and then participate in a nature walk through the University of Michigan grounds. October weather in Michigan is unpredictable and we will be outside walking through woods and trails so please dress for the weather.

Some ideas of things you might need are:

• Gym/Walking Shoes
• Sweatshirt/Jacket
• Gloves
• Hat
• rain jacket
• boots

This is a wonderful opportunity to spend some one on one time with your child while learning about the local wildlife in our beautiful city of Dearborn! If you have not turned in your child’s permission slip yet, please make sure to do so by Monday, October 23rd so I have an accurate count for the bus. Students, parents, and teachers will return to school at 11:30am. Children will go home with parents when the field trip is over.

Parent Teacher Conferences- Tuesday, November 14th and Wednesday, November 15th

Parent teacher conferences will be Tuesday, November 14th and Wednesday, November 15th. Conferences will be in our classroom, room #111 and last about 45 minutes. A sign up sheet will be available beginning next week for families to choose a time that works best for them.

Illness and Absences

If your child is going to be absent please make sure to message me on Remind so that I can put the absence in as excused. If a child is sick they must stay home until they are fever, vomiting, and/or diarrhea free for 24 hours without medicine. A doctor’s note is required to return to school if a child is sick for 3 or more days.
