Eid Mubarak!

Eid Mubarak to everyone who was celebrating this weekend!

Homeschool Heroes

Shape superheroes, the letter H, building superhero hideouts, and celebrating Eid!

Letter of the Week

Our letter of the week is Mm. Capital M and lowercase m look a little different. Capital M is made with 4 big straight lines, while lowercase m is made with 2 little curves.

Work Time

Turn off those screens and play with some toys, color, paint… anything you can think of!

Planning Time (5 minutes): Build your child’s ability to organize their time by having them make a “plan” with you about what they would like to play with.  Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Adults make plans all the time to organize their thoughts (shopping lists are made before going to the grocery store, to do lists are made to help plan your day etc..).

Work Time (45-60 minutes): During work time kids play WITHOUT ELECTRONICS.  Kids can use toys to pretend play, build, and create.

Clean Up (about 15 minutes):  Kids clean up the mess they have made while playing.

Recall Time (5 minutes): Build your child’s memory of events by having your child tell you what they did while they played (ask “tell me how you did that” or “what did you do next?”)

Assignment

Spring is here! We are going to be talking about flowers and all things spring this week! Today we’re going to listen to a story called, “Grow Flower, Grow!”

1.What was your favorite part of the story? Draw a picture and write a sentence about it in your journal, then take a picture and send it to me!

2. Are there flowers in your yard? On your street? In your neighborhood? Today for math I want you take your whiteboard/marker/erasers and write down how many flowers you see? How many red? How many yellow? Take a picture of what you wrote and send it to me so I can see!

For an extra challenge, you can have your child use tally marks on their whiteboard while they are counting. Here is an example:

Example of a tally mark graph.

3. Get outside! Go for a walk or play in your backyard. If you can’t, get your body moving with some Cosmic Kids yoga!

Have a great day!
