Last Days of School
This will be the last week of school for GSRP for new material, we will use next week to ccelebrate and catch up on missing work!
End of Year Certificates
Cotter will be having a drive through on Wednesday, June 3rd (My birthday!) and Thursday, June 4th from 12-2pm for parents to come pick up End of Year certificates, any materials your child may have left at school, as well as a small gift from Ms. Thabet and I.
Parent/Teacher Phone Calls
Ms. Thabet and I will be calling families this week to check in and answer any questions you might have before the end of the school year. If you see a blocked number it might be us! đ We hope you are having a good start to the week and are looking forward to talking to you!
Talking to Your Children about Germs, Wearing a Mask and Covid-19
I have included some links and topics to discuss with your children going into the fall school year. If we are in the buildings in the fall it is likely your children will have to wear masks as well as the teachers and staff. Please prepare your children for this, otherwise it can be a bit scary/overwhelming if they do not know what to expect.
Tips for Teaching Children about Wearing a Mask
- Practice wearing a mask in your house before you go in public
- Talk with your children about how it feels around their ears and that it might be warm to wear. Let them know it is normal and they will still be able to breathe.
- Help your child get used to the idea that other people will also be wearing masks by making some for stuffed animals or dolls in your home to wear.
- Use a simple story to explain the importance of the masks. Use the story to remind your children that the other people wearing masks are doing their part to keep you safe, so we donât need to be scared or anxious when we see people wearing masks in public.
Letter of the Week
Work Time
Turn off those screens and play with some toys, color, paint⌠anything you can think of!
Planning Time (5 minutes): Build your childâs ability to organize their time by having them make a âplanâ with you about what they would like to play with. Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Adults make plans all the time to organize their thoughts (shopping lists are made before going to the grocery store, to do lists are made to help plan your day etc..).
Work Time (45-60 minutes): During work time kids play WITHOUT ELECTRONICS. Kids can use toys to pretend play, build, and create.
Clean Up (about 15 minutes): Kids clean up the mess they have made while playing.
Recall Time (5 minutes): Build your childâs memory of events by having your child tell you what they did while they played (ask âtell me how you did thatâ or âwhat did you do next?â)
