Letter of the Week
Work Time
Turn off those screens and play with some toys, color, paint… anything you can think of!
Planning Time (5 minutes): Build your child’s ability to organize their time by having them make a “plan” with you about what they would like to play with. Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Adults make plans all the time to organize their thoughts (shopping lists are made before going to the grocery store, to do lists are made to help plan your day etc..).
Work Time (45-60 minutes): During work time kids play WITHOUT ELECTRONICS. Kids can use toys to pretend play, build, and create.
Clean Up (about 15 minutes): Kids clean up the mess they have made while playing.
Recall Time (5 minutes): Build your child’s memory of events by having your child tell you what they did while they played (ask “tell me how you did that” or “what did you do next?”)
Assignment
It’s the last day of our superhero week, and we’re going to learn something new about Superheroes. Did you know even Superheroes can have bad days just like you and me?! Today we’re going to read a story about what happens when Superheroes have a bad day.
1.Sometimes even superheros have bad days and feel sad, mad, or frustrated. Think about what the superheroes did when they were feeling bad. Did they punch, kick, or yell? No! They helped people, exercised, or took deep breathes to calm down and feel better. Do you remember a time when you had a bad day? In your journal, draw a picture and write a sentence about a time when you were feeling sad or mad, and what you could do to feel better.
2.Now we’re going to build a superhero base! You can use anything in your house to build your base. Blocks, toys, paper, shoes, boxes…use your imagination! When you’re done, take a picture of your base and send it to me so I can see. Here are some examples to help you get started:

3. Read together for 20 minutes.
4. Get outside, go for a walk or play in the backyard! If you can’t, get your body moving with some super hero exercises!
Have a great weekend, and happy Memorial Day!
