Learning Activities for Monday, May 11th
Happy Mother’s Day!

Office Hours
My office hours will be 3-6pm Monday-Thursday. This is the time I will be answering emails, responding to Remind messages, making phone calls, etc. If you message me earlier in the day I will reply between 3-6pm. If you message me after 6pm I will reply the next day between 3-6pm.
Preschool Registration
Parents interested in the state-sponsored GSRP preschool can sign up to receive more information about registration when it becomes available at https://cotter.dearbornschools.org/. The Great Start Readiness Program is not accepting official applications yet while awaiting more direction from the state. GSRP is open to low-income and working-class families at no cost to the family.
The District is also accepting registration for paid programs for the fall, including preschool programs and before and afterschool childcare. Parents interested in those programs can learn more by visiting https://iblog.dearbornschools.org/earlychildhood/. Scroll down on the home page to find a list of programs and prices for next school year. Registration forms are available under a separate tab and can be printed and mailed in to reserve your spot. Children in paid programs do not need to reside in Dearborn Public Schools.

Letter of the Week
This week we’re going to look at the letter Ww. Ww says “wah” like water, watermelon, and Wassim!
Work Time
Turn off those screens and play with some toys, color, paint… anything you can think of!
Planning Time (5 minutes): Build your child’s ability to organize their time by having them make a “plan” with you about what they would like to play with. Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Adults make plans all the time to organize their thoughts (shopping lists are made before going to the grocery store, to do lists are made to help plan your day etc..).
Work Time (45-60 minutes): During work time kids play WITHOUT ELECTRONICS. Kids can use toys to pretend play, build, and create.
Clean Up (about 15 minutes): Kids clean up the mess they have made while playing.
Recall Time (5 minutes): Build your child’s memory of events by having your child tell you what they did while they played (ask “tell me how you did that” or “what did you do next?”)
Assignment
This week we are going to try and combine some fun reading, math, art, and science together to learn about weather!
1.Write and draw about the weather! Draw a picture of a sunny day and write sunny, draw a picture of a snowy day and write snow, draw a picture of a rainy day and write rain, what else can you do? Cloud, tornado, storm, wind, etc.? When you’re finished take a picture of your drawing and send it to me!
2. Next we’re going to make a weather graph! This week check the weather each day and draw/write what you see. Mom or dad please help draw the lines, or if you are able to go ahead and print one. Not necessary though! Watch my friend Ms. Reid demonstrate how to make a weather graph at home.

3. Read together for 20 minutes.
4. Get outside, play in your backyard and/or go for a walk. If you can’t, get your body moving with some Penguin Yoga!
Have a great day!
