Letter of the Week

This week we are going to learn about the letter Pp! P says “puh” like pancake, pirate, and pidgeon.

Work Time

Turn off those screens and play with some toys, color, paint
 anything you can think of!

Planning Time (5 minutes): Build your child’s ability to organize their time by having them make a “plan” with you about what they would like to play with.  Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Adults make plans all the time to organize their thoughts (shopping lists are made before going to the grocery store, to do lists are made to help plan your day etc..).

Work Time (45-60 minutes): During work time kids play WITHOUT ELECTRONICS.  Kids can use toys to pretend play, build, and create.

Clean Up (about 15 minutes):  Kids clean up the mess they have made while playing.

Recall Time (5 minutes): Build your child’s memory of events by having your child tell you what they did while they played (ask “tell me how you did that” or “what did you do next?”)

Assignment

1.We are going to have some fun this week checking out some of the different stories and doing some activities to go along with a new character named Pidgeon! This week we will be doing a lot of drawing and creating! Enjoy 🙂

Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus

Listen to the story here:

2. Did you let the pigeon drive the bus?! I don’t think I would. I wouldn’t want him to crash. I want you to now create your own bus using boxes in your house or the cushions from your couch to make your own bus for the pigeon. What can you use for the wheels? What can you use for the steering wheel? How many wheels will it have? Will it be a long bus or a short bus? Will the bus be huge or tiny? Can’t wait to see your creations, make sure to take a picture and send it to me!

3.Read together for 20 minutes.

4.The pigeon showed lots of different emotions in this story. What emotions did you see him show. Can you copy those emotions? Have a parent name different emotions and you try to show that emotion with your body. If your parent says, “happy” you could smile and dance around. If your parent says, “mad” you could have a mad look on your face and stomp your feet. Show those emotions and share them on the facebook page.
