Learning Activities for Monday, March 16

Tomorrow we begin the first day of our remote learning experience! I am going to be sending you these activities the night before in order to help parents prepare and contact me through remind or email (stortij@dearbornschools.org) if you need alternative options or suggestions. I am here to help! These are also great activity ideas for all of your learners at home.

Please make sure you are sending me pictures of your child completing the activities (consider this your “attendance”)

Reminder of Suggested Schedule

While our children are at home, the most important thing we can do is to keep them in a routine. This helps comfort the child as well as provides some peace for you <3 . Here are some ideas of daily schedules you can use in your home:

This is the schedule I will be using at home with my boys over the next few weeks.
This is schedue that has become popuar on my social media news feed over the last few days.

Chores

Chores are an important and normal part of daily life, boys and girls as young as 2 years can begin to help around the house by picking up their toys, wiping the table after eating, etc. If your children do not already have assigned chores in your home I encourage you to sit down together and make a list of what each child is responsible for. Here is the chore chart I use at home with my 8 and 5 year old if you would like some examples.

This is our chore chart, we keep it on the refigerator in the kitchen and use a marker to check off the jobs that have been completed.

Assignment

  1. Sit down together as a family and make a daily schedule that will work for you. Feel free to use the examples I posted above or make up something different. Once your schedule is compete, send me a picture through remind. This will be your child’s attendance for Monday.
  2. Read together for 20 minutes.

I can’t wait to see everyone’s schedules! I miss you all, stay healthy!
