Good Morning Families! I hope everyone is doing well. As we prepare for this new normal for this extended time at home, I wanted to share with you some ideas to think about and consider for your children as we plan for this time of home learning.
Create a daily routine for you and your child and stick to it. Starting today, with the help of your child create a routine and write it down together. Be consistent with times Monday through Friday as though we are in school. Be sure wake up times and bedtimes remain the same as if your child was coming to school. In your routine set times for meals, snacks, school work, reading, outside time, play time, rest time, and chores. Be sure to set limits on screen time. This may be added to your routine but set a specific time and limit the time spent on devices. Hang your daily routine in a spot where you and your child can see it. The refrigerator is a great place to keep it.
Assignment
- For today’s learning activity, I am asking you to create a daily routine with your child. Please write down your routine together. Please share your routine with me by emailing a picture of your plan to me. Starting this evening I will be sending you activities to complete with your child for the following day. Please contact me by email with any questions (stawark@dearbornschools.org). Please make sure you are sending me pictures of your child completing the activities (consider this your attendance).
- Read with your child for 20 minutes.
Here is an example of daily routine to help you with creating one for your child. You can use this routine or create something different.
