Weekly Spelling Words

Beginning consonant digraphs  – th, sh, wh, ch

Pattern Words – think, thing, three, shine, shape, while, white, what, chase, change

Dolch – were, just, live, your, off

Update from Room 211

Tomorrow is pajama day! So we will do our plays in our pajamas which will make it even more fun!!

It is also gym day tomorrow so students need to wear their gym shoes.

Thanksgiving Plays are at 10:00 and 2:50. Please give yourself time to sign in at the office. The plays are short so don’t be late or you might miss them.

Classroom News from Room 211

There is no spelling test this week because of the  short week.  There is no school on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.

Thanksgiving Plays will be presented on Tuesday, November 21 at 10:00 and 2:50. The same plays will be presented twice. They are very short so please be on time. 

Tuesday is Gym day.

Weekly Spelling Words – long e spelled ea, ee, —y

Pattern – treat, clean, seat, mean, need, feed, week, peek, very, baby

Dolch – new, must, ate, any, over

Parent/Teacher Conferences are on Wednesday and Thursday this week. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s progress in 2nd grade. I will send a reminder note home so please check your child’s folder.

The PTA sponsored  Scholastic Book Fair is this week. We will be going to browse at 2:00 on Monday. Students can bring money anytime this week. Remember to include enough for taxes. 

Math – we will be learning how to tell time this week. Please call your child’s attention to a clock at home, analog preferably Image result for analog clock, several times this week and ask them the time.

Thanksgiving Plays – we have started practicing our Thanksgiving Plays on the stage. My goal is for us to perform them for you on Tuesday, November 21, at 10:00 and repeat them at 2:30. 

I will let you know if something changes. 

HOMEWORK  is sent home in your child’s folder  Monday – Wednesday. It is due the next day. Thursday’s homework is to practice spelling words for the test on Friday. READING is HOMEWORK EVERYDAY!! Students will not make progress if they are not reading at home. Set a time for your child to read and please ask them to tell you about what they are reading.

If you can spare a box of Kleenex it would be greatly appreciated.

Wednesday is Library Day!! Please remind your child to bring their library books on Wednesday!

The Scholastic Book Fair is next week! We will be going to the book fair on Monday afternoon.

Next Wednesday is a Late Start! School will begin at 9:40.

There is NO SCHOOL for students on Tuesday, November 7. Teachers will have professional development and it is Election Day!

Parent Conferences are coming up on this week on Thursday, and next week on Wednesday and Thursday. A blue note was sent home last week with the date and time of your conference. Please let me know if the time is good for you by returning the blue note. I look forward to meeting with you.

Halloween was a lot of fun! Thank you to Aleen’s mom and Abbas’ mom for helping out. Here are a few pictures from our fun day!
