Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on October 24, 2016 from 3:30 p.m-6:00 p.m and October 26, 2016 from 3 p.m to 6 p.m. Hope to see you then!

Homework: If you did not earn a PERFECT score of 4/4 on your S.A.R. paragraph, you will need to complete an EXTRA prompt/question from the list provided to you. Keep in mind that your S.A.R. response MUST include the following:
- Color Coded
- Skip lines
- Label
- Step #1: restate and answer—red
- Step #2: detail #1 & explanation #1—-blue
- Step #3: detail #2 & explanation #2—–green
- Step $3: closing sentence—-yellow
Be sure to use the ELABORATION & CLOSING sentence starters sheet provided

Week 2 spelling test on WEDNESDAY
Begin stations:

- Journal: October Square # 1 (add 3 of your spelling words)
- Introduce Verbs: past and present

2nd & 5th hour:
- Genre Booklet due on Monday!!!
- Set up Reading Log folder- Decorate cover for homework– due on Tuesday
- October Journal Square #1- free write
- Genre test on Thursday– study index cards, play iblog games, and review worksheets
- Exploring Lexile.com by Genre- (Wednesday or Thursday)
- Greek root word #3
October 3- 7
1st hour:
- Spelling words week 2 ( super sentences, paragraph, short & long vowels)
- SRA book #3 (annotate/ identify unknown words/ underline key terms in question)
- Journal prompts
- Set up grammar notebook- verbs and irregular verbs
2nd & 5th hour:
- Genre cross word puzzle
- “Once Upon a Genre” book display- due by Friday! (30 points- MUST be neat and colorful)
- Greek/Latin root word #2
- Journal prompt #3- add 3 emoji terms
- Folder with 3 prongs due by MONDAY!!!- This will be used for Reading Logs!

6th Grade:
- Continued Reading NWEA- Please ask your student for their reading score. Sixth grade students should have scored 218 (6.0) or above.
- Students who finished testing were able to check out a library book from my classroom library. They should be reading 20 minutes each night.
