WOW…It was wonderful seeing you on your computers this morning!! I miss seeing you every day and hearing your voices so I was very happy to connect with you today. We’ll try to meet up once a week. I have several meetings each week so when I get a schedule of the meetings, I can plan our Meet around those times and, hopefully, meet on a regular day/time.

There were 12 out of my 26 students who got to visit and see each other today. I have called all the other students to make sure that they have Internet connection and computers or a Chrome book on which to work on their assignments. Hopefully by next week we can all Meet! If I left you a voicemail message regarding Internet availability, please respond by today. Thank you!

Those who visited today were…

Julia Leya August Max Ike Scarlett Annie Zack (and I think Malik was close by) Youssef Ameer Fatima

Next time I hope to see…

Hussain Sal Taher Khadija Juliana Ali Sara Malak Mariam James Aicha Ella Vera Hamie and Vera Carlson

I miss you all.

Remember to:

My dear Kindergarteners and families,

I have been wrestling with the proper words to use when writing this Blog. Since the directive came to remain at home and all schools are closed until further notice, so many thoughts have gone through my mind. The first thought is about missed days and events with YOU!!. We were sailing along so well, lots of terrific reading, good strategies and skills, great comprehension and problem solving, and your writing was blossoming! Well, although we are not physically together, we can keep in touch via computers and you sharing samples of your work. I am so proud of each of you.

Parents, I appreciate you taking on this new role of “teacher.” Trying to balance home needs of laundry, meals, grocery shopping, housecleaning, now has the responsibility of “teaching” added on and, for some of you, that means “teaching” more that one grade level too. Believe me, I really appreciate what you are doing. You are the role model at home as to how to handle this new event, the likes of which we have never had before.

Together we will get through this.

This afternoon I am trying to set up a time when we can all see each other online. Details to follow. I just wanted to check in with you today. On Friday I will be working on next week’s plans and will post when ready.

I will probably not be checking my mail for the rest of this week, as it is Holy Week for me. In the meantime, be well, stay safe, and for those observing, have a Blessed Easter!!

Re-sending calendar

Parents,

Just in case you didn’t get the calendar that I sent on Monday, 3/30/2020.

Well, as you have probably have heard by now, Michigan’s governor has announced closing of all schools until the end of the academic year 2019-2020. This has brought an overwhelming sadness to teachers and families. I cannot express how disappointed I am that I will not have my class back in my room this year. I miss my kids so very much. With that in mind, I’m thinking we could meet for a grand picnic at Ford Field when this is lifted. Let’s look for the silver lining in this…something to look forward to doing.

Going out for a walk. I’ll write more later.
