We celebrate another beautiful, warm week of Fall!  WOW!

We will begin a new Unit in Reading.

READING-TRANSPORTATION is our theme for the next 3 weeks.

Unit 1-“Getting Around Town”  We’ll talk about different vehicles.

READING STRATEGY-Recognizing story structure

READING SKILL-Making and Confirming Predictions

WRITING-Writing a List (of vehicles that we see around town)

MATH-Number Line 🙂   Students will be moving along a giant Number Line, discovering numbers that are greater than or less than a given number.  For example,

0__1__2__3__4__5__6__7__8__9__10__11__12__13__14__15__16__17__18__19__20

“Tell me a number that is < 15.”  “Tell me a number that is > 4.”

SOCIAL STUDIES-We’ll be talking about Needs and Wants.

Here is the schedule for the Book Bags.  Bags will come home on the day indicated below.  Keep the book for the week and return it on the day indicated.  For example, Book bag goes home on Mondayreturn the bag the following Monday.

Book Bag

Parents,

I will be sending home a book bag with one or two books for your child to read with you.  The bag will have a schedule for the bag to return to school.  We will start slowly with the book levels.  We’re focusing on Comprehension, Fluency of reading the text and Accuracy of the words.   Enjoy listening to your child read!

 

 

We have a “Pete the Cat’s Shoe Tying Club!”  Look who can tie shoes!  Adriana, Mia, Sarah, Emily, and Lana.  Practice tying shoes at home so you too can join Pete’s Club!

Halloween

What a wonderful day today!  The students enjoyed dressing up and walking in the parade.  Following the parade we enjoyed treats in our classroom.  Thank you to Mrs. Eberwein (Jonah’s mom) and Mrs. Fracassa (Alina’s mom) for organizing the food and craft. Halloween-tomorrow

Parents,

Here’s the plan for tomorrow…

11:15-Students may either have lunch here or be picked up to go home for lunch/change into costume.               Students need to be back at school by 11:55.  We need to be in ART Class by 12:00.

Students who remain here for lunch-I will help dress them after lunch.

An All-School Parade will be at 1:30 around the track.  All are welcome to watch the parade.  Bring your cameras!  We’re pretty cute!!  The parade usually lasts 20-25 minutes.  I will then take my students into my room for the rest of the day.  Dismissal is the usual time.

Enjoy Saturday night with your excited little ones!

Week of October 26, 2015

Can you believe it’s the last week of October already!! Here we go…

READING-We will continue on with our unit on FRIENDS.  What Is A Friend? 

STRATEGIES-Characters and Setting

WRITING-We’ll focus on writing with spaces between words.

WORD-A  a   (pronounced “ahh,” not a)

LETTER-P  p

MATH-Adding 1 to any given number

SCIENCE-Predicting, Observing, & Conclusions  all with pumpkins!!  We are still missing many “Lab Coats.” -an big T-Shirt, an old one of Dad’s, Grandpa’s, Uncle’s will do. lab coats      Here is Scientist Nabil in his “Lab Coat.”

 

Friday will be our Halloween Parade and Party.  Students may bring a costume to school and we will change into the costumes after lunch.  You also may take your child home at lunch (11:15) to eat and dress.  Please have your child back at school by 12:00 noon.  (This is a time change from last week’s post as they now have ART at 12:00.)

Parade is at 1:30 around the track.  Pray for good weather!

My Homeroom Parents have things organized for the party.  I know that they have asked for a monetary donation to help cover the parties.  If you have not sent in the money, please send it in on Monday.  Thank you.
