Welcome to Kindergarten! 2016-2017

Good Morning and welcome to Kindergarten.  It’s going to be an awesome year!

I will be sending home a SUGGESTED supply list during the week.  For now, the only thing your student will need is a backpack (no wheels, please).  Please label the backpack with your student’s name.  Some of the Super Heroes and Frozen backpacks can be owned by more than one “Super Hero” or “Elsa” or “Anna.” 🙂

If you need to contact me, email is your best line of communication.  I may not be able to respond immediately, but I will get to you at some time.  Check my blog often…sometimes I will post more than once a day, but at least once a week.

Enough for now.  I just wanted to welcome you to Kindergarten.  I can’t wait to see every one on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016 at 8:35 am.  I will be outside earlier to greet everyone.

Here we go…!!!  As Pete the Cat says…”It’s all good!”

Last post for KIndergarten!

To my Kindergarteners,

All year long I have bee writing posts to your parents about what we are doing in here each week. Today I am writing to you. Here is one final picture of you on our playground.  Sorry that Eman Abdullah is missing…she was absent.

class 2016-2017

You are such a terrific bunch of kids.  I will miss you.  Remember to keep reading and writing EVERY day.

Here’s one thing to Never Forget

(besides the fact that everything you really need in life you learn in Kindergarten!)

Your presence is a present to the world.  You’re unique and one of a kind.

your life can be what you want it to be.  Take the days, just one at a time.

Count your blessings, not your troubles.  You’ll make it through, whatever comes along.

Within you are so many answers.  Understand, have courage, be strong.

Don’t put limits on yourself.  So many dreams are waiting to be realized.

Decisions are too important to leave to chance.  Reach for your peak, your goal, your prize.

Nothing wastes more energy than worrying.  The longer one carries a problem, the heavier it gets.

Don’t take things too seriously.  Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.

Remember that a little love goes a long way.  Remember that a lot…goes forever.

Remember that friendship is a wise investment.  Life’s treasures are people …together.

Realize that it’s never too late.  Do ordinary things in an extraordinary way.

Have health, hope, and happiness.  Take the time to wish upon a star.

And don’t ever forget…

Not even for a day…

Just how very special you are.

I love each and every one of you.  Enjoy your summer and God Bless You.

Love,

Mrs. Smith

Last week of Kindergarten!

WOW…remember back in September when I told you that the year would fly by??!!  Well, here we are arriving at the last week of school and what a fun and successful year we have had.

We’ll finish the year with some SCIENCE and WRITING about things they are requesting.  Today we made a chart about FROGS.

                FROGS

    have        can       are

We wrote down several items under each heading.  Then, using the list of information, they wrote 4 sentences, combining 2 items from the chart.  For example,

Frogs have smooth skin and can jump far and fast.

Frogs can stick to trees and are amphibians.

Frogs…

Frogs…

They did a fantastic job of pulling facts from the chart and writing a non-fiction (Informational) piece about FROGS.  They are such wonderful authors. I’m very proud of them.

Here’s next week’s agenda…

Today we had special  guests…the Dearborn High School Band, undet the direction of Mr. Oshnock!  They were FANTASTIC and many former Howard School alums were playing in the band.  How terrific!  Mr. Oshnock introduced each family of instruments, the band played some pieces and we even saw them march.  What a terrific band!  Here are a few pictures from their visit…
