We are excited to show off our classroom tonight at Open House. Please stop in for a visit from 6:00-7:30.

Several of you have asked very kindly if there was anything I could use in here. Well…if you have an extra small jelly roll pan or cookie sheet I could use a few in here. I like to use them for magnetic letters and using the cookie sheets, the kids can take the letters to different areas and work with the letters without them spilling off of a tray. Thanks!

We’ere good on snacks for a few weeks. I’ll let you know when we need refills.

For tonight, I will have a computer available for you to sign up for my blog. I usually post on Fridays for the upcoming week…what the READING COMPREHENSION STRATEGY, Math concepts, PHONICS focus, etc will be for the following week.. Kids love to come in on Mondays and tell me what we’ll be doing for the week. 🙂

A reminder that next Thursday, I will be having a PARENT MEETING to go over some expectations, procedures, and tips for how you can help your child at home. September 19 at 4:00 in my room

Bring in your Library Book so that you can get a new one.

We have 2 Hermit Crabs in our classroom! They were a little nervous today so they were hiding a bit. The kids were VERY intrigued and enjoyed watching them crawl around. Here are pictures of our new creatures.

The white shell one is still flipped over. See if you can find the other Hermit Crab. He’s in a pink shell and I think he’s playing “Peek-A-Boo!”

This week we will hold an OPEN HOUSE and all parents, grandparents, siblings, neighbors, are invited to visit the school. It will be from 6:00-7:30. Next Thursday, September I will be having a Kindergarten Parent Meeting at 4:00 in my classroom. I will briefly go over procedures, expectations and what you can do at home to best help your child.

We had a great time today painting with our 5th Grade Buddies! We will let the rocks dry and then I will coat them with a shellac coating. Next week we will write the words on the rocks. Such fun!

Just before our Buddies arrived we had snack out on the porch. Take a look…

Tomorrow we will be painting with our 5th grade Buddies!!! We will be doing projects all year long with them. Since our whole school is focused “Kindness to All,” Mrs. Szaili, 5th grade teacher, and I decided on painting some rocks with words of kindness. My class will paint the rocks and the 5th graders will print the words on the rocks. We already have the rocks, paint and brushes. We hope to place the finished rocks around the school grounds.

I wanted to give you a “heads up” because the paints are acrylic and, therefore, are not washable. So, I would advise old clothes OR a paint shirt to protect clothing. I will bring some from home but I don’t have 25 extra shirts at home.
