Our last week of December??!!  Where does the time go?

I sure am enjoying my class…they are such kind spirits, gentle and helpful.

Last week we finished a 2 week unit on Reindeer.  A red book went home yesterday titled “All about Reindeer.”  Please let your child read their book to you.  They know A LOT about Reindeer.  Check it out!

Yesterday we started a unit about “Gingerbread.”  Naturally we read “The Gingerbread Man” and made all of the characters so that we could retell the story.  They had a great time making the characters and I listened carefully as they retold the story with their “peanut butter/jelly” partner.  I was listening for comprehension and sequencing.  I will send home those character pieces sometime this week.  I couldn’t catch all of the kids but here are a few retelling the story with their partner.

Also this week I will be sending home a little packet to be completed over Christmas Break (just to keep things fresh in their minds.) The pages are very easy.

The important piece to be returned is “All About Me timeline.”  Directions are included.  This is part of our Social Studies curriculum.

Other decorations will be coming home too this week.  🙂  If you’re in my class…”Leave the decorating to us.”

Today, because we have earned the “Etiquette Award” we will be treated to “Hot Chocolate with Mrs. Claus”!!!

Wednesday-regular schedule

Thursday- We will have a little party in here.  The homeroom mothers have it all under control.

Friday-We will participate in out “All School Sing-A-Long” singing some of our favorite some of our favorite songs.  At the same time, some folks will be having their hair cut (Parents Permission required!!) and share in the “Children With Hair Loss” donation program.  This is an annual event and Howard students and families have contributed a very generous amount through the years.  We are such a giving community.

Finally, to you and yours, I wish you a Merry Christmas, a Joyous New Year, and safe holidays!  I’ll see you in 2019 and can’t wait to hear all of the news from my Kindergarteners.  I know they’ll have plenty to share.
