Today we wrote sentences that contained two rhyming words.  Together we created several sentences. We wrote them on the Promethean Board.  We circled the rhyming words. Next I had them choose 2 rhyming words (other than cat/hat    cat/mat     dog/log) and create a sentence with the 2 rhyming words.  The sentence had to make sense too.  Identifying and generating rhyming words is a component of  Foundational Skills for Reading.  Practice generating rhyming words (other than cat/hat, etc).  Then have your child create a sentence using those 2 rhyming words.  Experiment with different words.  Here’s Sandy Dabbous’ sentence…”The boy can keep the sheep.”
