Parents,
This author, Mrs. Glenys Nellist, is a friend of mine and a well published author of children’s books. She is from England and is such a sweet, gentle lady. She will be reading her newest book, “Little Mole Finds Hope” at Barnes and Noble next Saturday, March 14th. Stop up and have a listen. If you purchase a copy, she will autograph it for you. Last time she launched a new book, we ran out of copies and there was standing room only! Hope to see you there!

I rewrote the lyrics to “She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain” and used lyrics for the WATER CYCLE.

Sing along…

“Water travels in a cycle, yes it does.

Water travels in a cycle, yes it does.

It goes up as evaporation

It forms clouds as condensation

It falls down as precipitation

Yes it does!”

Happy Monday and Yippee for the warmer temperatures!

Please take time each day to review the SPELLING WORDS for this week. Fridays will be our SPELLING TEST day. Help your student be successful by reviewing the words each night. Have them spell the words back to you AND write the words. Sometimes students can spell/say the word, but don’t know how to write the word. Also, for the word “he,” make sure your child is writing an “h” and not and “n.”

Thanks.

Happy Birthday today, March 2 to Dr. Geisel, aka “Dr. Seuss. (It’s also one of my daughters’ birthday and she NEVER cared for Dr. Seuss’ books because they didn’t make sense to her. ) Students will bring home something tomorrow about Dr. Seuss.

Creating number sentences to go with Subtraction Problems today was a little rough. I told them that Subtraction always starts with the biggest number. They’ll get it…just takes time.

Have a good week and start filling out the Reading slips for the home reading. They are on the “Say Aloha to a Good Book” slip. I’ll collect the signed slips on Friday (same day as SPELLING TEST.)
