Welcome 2020! I hope you rang in the New Year with happiness and peace with family. We managed to stay up until midnight but faded quickly thereafter. All 3 daughters, their husbands, and all 6 grandkids were home for Christmas and it was wonderful!
Sounds like my little scholars in here had great days too. I sent home yesterday something that each one told me about their break. I really missed them and was so ready to see them.
Here’s a look at this week…
WORDS- have you up on dog
READING COMPREHENSION-Winter (non fiction)
WRITING-OPINION “Which season do you like best?” Write something you like to do in that season. “I like winter. I like to catch snowflakes on my tongue.”
“I like summer. I like to collect shells on the beach.”
“I like Spring. I like to see the new flowers pop up.”
“I like fall. I like to roast marshmallows over a campfire.”
SCIENCE-Seasons
SOCIAL STUDIES Today I asked them how they could better themselves or the world. “2020 is a Great Year to…” Great ideas. Ask your student what they said.
MATH-From any given number, add 1 more. ie 7 add 1 more= 8
REMEMBER TO SEND IN BOOK BAGS. I will be doing a mid-year reading level assessment. Make sure that your child reads every night for 20 minutes. I can always tell who has read their books during the week. Also, do some sentence writing with the weekly words. Today I had them write 1 sentence for have and you. Several had difficulty just coming up with an idea for a sentence. Practice at home. Make up sentences in the car, waiting at soccer practices, etc. Please help them create an idea, then write it down…pushing through unknown words and giving lots of practice to all the words we have had so far.
Wednesday is LIBRARY BOOK DAY.
Math Packet came home today-due next Monday, 1/13.
Have a good week and Blessings for the NEW YEAR.
