We had a great time today painting with our 5th Grade Buddies! We will let the rocks dry and then I will coat them with a shellac coating. Next week we will write the words on the rocks. Such fun!

Just before our Buddies arrived we had snack out on the porch. Take a look…

Yesterday our PTA sponsored an assembly “Basketball Jones.” Here’s one of the “stars,” our very own Ike!

Have a great weekend!

Tomorrow-painting

Tomorrow we will be painting with our 5th grade Buddies!!! We will be doing projects all year long with them. Since our whole school is focused “Kindness to All,” Mrs. Szaili, 5th grade teacher, and I decided on painting some rocks with words of kindness. My class will paint the rocks and the 5th graders will print the words on the rocks. We already have the rocks, paint and brushes. We hope to place the finished rocks around the school grounds.

I wanted to give you a “heads up” because the paints are acrylic and, therefore, are not washable. So, I would advise old clothes OR a paint shirt to protect clothing. I will bring some from home but I don’t have 25 extra shirts at home.

Thanks!

Blue’s Clues

Blue’s Clues Box

September 4, 2019

While my class is in ART, I can write a few words to you.

We are off to a great start in here in Kindergarten! Lots of fun learning and we’re getting into routines and expectations.

Today we went to the LIBRARY and they each checked out a book. They are bringing home the book, keep it for a week, and bring it back next WEDNESDAY for a new choice. Please help them remember that WEDNESDAY IS LIBRARY DAY. I suggest that the student put their book in their backpack at night so that they will know if they have their book with them or not. THEY DO and THEY will remember.

I have also started a “BLUE”S CLUES” box. Each child will get a turn to bring home the little box and put something in it. Then fill out the card with 3 clues, return the card in the box and we will try to use deductive reasoning to figure out the item in the box. I put a card on the top with instructions.

I also have some students who are interested in reading to the class!!! WOW…this is fantastic, especially for this early in the year. Here’s picture of today’s reader…Ella Vogel. Thanks for sharing Ella!

You might not believe this, but yesterday we made a book! Yes, Day 1 of all day Kindergarten we made a book! It is about the letter “M”. Look for things around your house, car rides, your office, walks home from school that start with “m” sound. Moon, man, map, Minecraft, math, music, media, milk, money, mouth, Max, Malik, Malak, Mariam, and of course our favorite, MOM, were some of our discoveries.

Time to get my kids. Thanks for sharing your child with me.
