Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Can you believe that we are already near the end of December?  We are having such a great time in here, learning and laughing!  I treasure my days with “my kids.”

Regarding the worksheets…I realized that I stapled pages together that need to be cut apart.  OOPS!  I would rather have them cut apart the pages that needs to be cut.  Due when we return in January.

Here is a picture of my elves that organized, purchased, and implemented yesterday’s party.  Thank you ladies!

Some pictures from today…

And I had 3 “elves” that did a fabulous job purchasing items and food and making hats with their names on them. A huge thanks to Mrs. Moustafa, Mrs. Nasser, and Mrs. Saad!! Hats will come home tomorrow.  We will save them to wear them at the Sing-A-Long.

If possible, would you send in a bag or two for tomorrow’s decorations?  I know the things won’t all fit in their backpacks.  Thanks!

We had a great day today.

Week of December 17, 2018

Our last week of December??!!  Where does the time go?

I sure am enjoying my class…they are such kind spirits, gentle and helpful.

Last week we finished a 2 week unit on Reindeer.  A red book went home yesterday titled “All about Reindeer.”  Please let your child read their book to you.  They know A LOT about Reindeer.  Check it out!

Yesterday we started a unit about “Gingerbread.”  Naturally we read “The Gingerbread Man” and made all of the characters so that we could retell the story.  They had a great time making the characters and I listened carefully as they retold the story with their “peanut butter/jelly” partner.  I was listening for comprehension and sequencing.  I will send home those character pieces sometime this week.  I couldn’t catch all of the kids but here are a few retelling the story with their partner.

Also this week I will be sending home a little packet to be completed over Christmas Break (just to keep things fresh in their minds.) The pages are very easy.

The important piece to be returned is “All About Me timeline.”  Directions are included.  This is part of our Social Studies curriculum.

Other decorations will be coming home too this week.  🙂  If you’re in my class…”Leave the decorating to us.”

Today, because we have earned the “Etiquette Award” we will be treated to “Hot Chocolate with Mrs. Claus”!!!

Wednesday-regular schedule

Thursday- We will have a little party in here.  The homeroom mothers have it all under control.

Friday-We will participate in out “All School Sing-A-Long” singing some of our favorite some of our favorite songs.  At the same time, some folks will be having their hair cut (Parents Permission required!!) and share in the “Children With Hair Loss” donation program.  This is an annual event and Howard students and families have contributed a very generous amount through the years.  We are such a giving community.

Finally, to you and yours, I wish you a Merry Christmas, a Joyous New Year, and safe holidays!  I’ll see you in 2019 and can’t wait to hear all of the news from my Kindergarteners.  I know they’ll have plenty to share.

We’ve been working on gathering facts about reindeer for our Informational Writing.  Here are some of the facts we have learned about reindeer.

Today

Today we had our monthly assembly to recognize the students who have exhibited good behavior and made good choices all month.  We also recognize our Students of the Month.  In addition, special awards are given out for Cleanest class in the cafeteria, sportsmanship, and etiquette.  SURPRISE!!!!  Our class won the “Etiquette Award” for exhibiting amazing manners and pride.  We were awarded with a crown and a sceptre!  Mr. Elia took our picture for me to post but the Internet is not working in here for me.  The students were quite humble about the award, thinking and telling me that “that’s just the right thing to do, say, think, believe, treat others, “etc.  Such sweet, innocent, gentle souls in here.  I am spoiled.

I must say that the award goes to you parents as well as the kids.  They were shown how to act, treat others with kindness and respect with their thoughts, their words, and their actions.  That comes from home, as well as school.  Thank you.

Hopefully I can post the picture tomorrow.

Also, I have 7 students out today!  Sore throats, fevers, strep throat, etc.  Beware!  Wash those hands, drink liquids, use tissues, and get good rest.
