to learn and develop

at the pace

that is right

for each

individual

child.”

Good Morning and thank you for joining us last night for Open House.  I always enjoy getting to see the family members, the younger siblings that I hear about, Grandparents, Aunts/Uncles and all people who are important in my Kindergarteners’ lives.  If you did not get a chance to sign up for a Conference time, please see me to schedule a time in November when we can meet.

Reminder that today is half day.  11:45 Dismissal  (Afternoon is PD for staff)

I hope to post later this morning about next week’s plan.

Enjoy your weekend!

Today we had a special visitor…Mr.  Marks, who is Harper’s grandfather.  He read us a story titled One.  It’s a delightful story about Friendship.  If you haven’t read it, check it out.

Here we are with Mr. Marks.  Thanks for the story and the math fun Mr. Marks!

Week of September 4, 2018

Good Morning!  I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend.  I spent the weekend up on Mackinac Island at the Annual Jazz Festival.  What a fantastic lineup of musicians.  The headliner was Branford Marsalis.  Terrifc performances and I love being up there.

We have a full week of things to do in Kindergarten.  Here’s what I have planned…

SOCIAL STUDIES-Classroom Rules  We have created a charter, signed by all, the “We Will Treat Others The Way We Would Want to be Treated.”

MATH-We will be comparing items to see if they are EXACTLY the same or SIMILAR.

READING-M  m  and the sound that the letter makes.  Look for things around the house, world that begin with that sound.

WRITING-We will begin writing a story, a NARRATIVE.

DAILY 5- Our Literacy Program  We’ll talk about the 3 ways to READ A BOOK.  Ask your child “What are the 3 ways to read a book?”

SCIENCE will begin next week.

We start our SPECIAL CLASSES this week…ART, MUSIC, GYM, MEDIA, LIBRARY BOOK CHECK OUT.

GYM-Tues., & Thursday   GYM SHOES ARE NEEDED   Please mark Gym days and Library Book days on your calendar to help your child be prepared for class.

MUSIC-WED., & Fri

ART-Mon., & Fri

MEDIA (computer) Tues

LIBRARY BOOK CHECKOUT- Wednesday  We will check out a book tomorrow, they will take it home for the week to enjoy, and return it next week to exchange for another book of their choosing.

Although I took many pictures last week of the kids in action in class, only the first day recess picture went through to my computer.  Sorry…I’ll just keep trying.

We’re off to a great start.  Thank you for your help on the home front.
