Week of Nov. 30, 2015

I hope you all enjoyed your time with family, friends, and food.  I spent time with my family and celebrated our anniversary by seeing “Jersey Boys.”  Wonderful days, just like every day.

Here we go for the next 3 week…

Pizza Hut Book-It Reading

Parents,

My class will be participating in Pizza Hut’s Book-It Reading Program.  Please record the titles of the books that you read with your child.  You may count any of the little books from their weekly Book Bags too.  At the end of the month, your child may bring in their December Books List and I will give them a coupon for a free Personal Pizza from Pizza Hut.  They read AND get a free pizza-it’s a win-win situation!!

I will send home the December Books  on Monday.

Enjoy the Thanksgiving Book that your child made.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Winter Weather Clothing

Winter weather has arrived.  I was imagining the squeals of delight in your houses this weekend as the Kindergarteners discovered the snow!  Such fun!

Now that the snow is here, students need to WEAR boots to school and carry their shoes in their backpacks.  Even if there isn’t much snow on the ground, please have them WEAR their boots to school.  They walk through a little bit of snow or ice and it gets on their shoes.  It then gets brought into the classroom, they sit down on the carpet to begin our day, and the snow melts on the carpet.  Before long, they are sitting on wet carpet.  YUK! We’ll avoid this wetness by wearing boots to school and changing into shoes on the dry carpet.  Thank you.

Tuesday Book Bags due tomorrow-Adriana  Jonah  Ameer  Alina  Mia

A short week this week.  Your child will be bringing home a “Thankful Book.”  Enjoy the thoughts, writing,  and illustrations.

Have a Blessed Thanksgiving with your families and friends.  If you are traveling, please be safe.

Two things to remember in life:

“Take care of your thoughts when you are alone,”

and

“Take care of your words when you are with people.”

Week of Nov.,23, 2015

A very short week next week!  Of course, I will try to cram in as much as I can into those 2 days.

READING-Unit 3, Week 3  Review week

THEME-Wheels All Around   We’ll read Duck on a Bike in whole group.  Reading groups will have their own books, as usual.  Our Anthology will be a Pueblo folk tale.

STRATEGY-Recognizing story structure

SKILL-Identify Character and Plot

LETTERS AND SOUNDS- T t   Ii  P p    Since we added the letter and sound of i, we can make words using other letters that we have learned like, it  Tim  pit  sip tip    Add these with other letters and make words like Pam  map  tap  Sam

Keep reviewing sight words everyday.

WORDS-Reviewing see  go   Have your child write some sentences using the word go.  I noticed this week that many of them want to spell go with a capital G even it’s in the middle or end of a sentence.  (Capital letters go at the beginning of a sentence.)

MATH-Story Problems

SOCIAL STUDIES-We will finish up with Needs/Wants   Goods/ Services

Earphones for the IPads

Parents,

We now have 3 IPads for our classroom usage.  However, we need earphones to use them.  If you have an extra pair at home, would you clean them and send them in the little bag that your child is bringing home today.  I know that some Dollar Stores also carry them and you can get them on Amazon.

I know the kids will enjoy using them.

Thanks,

Mrs. Smith
