Brrr..it’s good kite flying weather with the winds, but it’s also quite cold.  I read that The temperature prediction for Thursday is 70 degrees!  Wouldn’t that be lovely?  🙂

For those of you who went to Howard’s Roller Skating Event, I hope you enjoyed the evening.  If you didn’t attend and had other plans, I hope you enjoyed your family time too.

Here’s what we’ll be doing this week…

READING-We’ll finish Unit 8   What’s In My Garden? I’ll read “Sunflower House.”

WRITING-Most of the students are writing 2-3 sentences on a single topic.  Several students are writing more than 3 sentences on a topic.  What great writers! They are focused on sounds and the corresponding letters to go with the sounds. Many are going beyond the individual sound to letter and are writing known words or are connecting to rhyming or spelling words.  Awesome!!

They’ll write about what they might grow if they had a little garden.  They’ll also write about if they had a little sunflower house, what would they do in it?  Their writing response should be more detailed than just “I would play in it.”  Who would be in the house with them?  What would they play? Would they eat anything?  Where would their house be?  What would they have in the house?  a bed?  a lamp?  a teddy bear?

On Thursday I will read a folk tale titled “The Rabbit and the Elephant.” Hmmm…I wonder what that tale will teach us?

SPELLING-Review week and a new chunk ub.
