We’re sooo busy in here! The students have been working with Expanded Notaton in Math! Here’s what they do…
They use dice, rods (10’s) and 1’s.
First, they roll 2 dice. One die is for the tens. One die for the 1’s.
They write down the 2 numbers.

Next, they make the number with rods and ones.
Last, they expand the number.

For example, they might roll 3 5. The 3would be the 10’s and the 5 would be the ones.

Write down the 2 numbers.

Next, draw the number using rods and ones.

Last, expand the number. 30 + 5= 35.

And all in Kindergarten!

Thanks for the tissue rolls. We turned them into “Minions” and are hanging on our board. I’ll put up a heading saying, “A Minion Reasons to read at Camp Read-A-Lot!”

We’re getting a bit low on snacks. Thanks.

They are doing so well in here with their reading, writing, and math. Predictions and Problem Solving Skills are showing progress too. Thanks for your help and support.
