We are all excited in here and checking out all of the GREEN and SHAMROCKS that people are wearing! We made a leprechaun and have had a great discussion about what they would do if they found the leprechaun’s pot of gold. Today they are writing their thoughts about how they would spend the money.
Tuesday my class will visit the Book Fair. Wednesday will be Purchase Day for my class.
We are hearing some great stories from our Guest Readers. Thanks Parents and Grandparents!
READING-We begin Unit 8-Plants. This week’s theme is How Trees Grow.
WRITING-Writing stories and directions in sequence. First, Next, Last
I will relate some of our writing to trees and how they grow.
SPELLING-Weekly words are “little said” and our letter/sound focus is
“K k” “ck”. For our spelling chunk this week I chose “ot” (to go with pot of gold! 🙂 )

As we finish our unit ” How Weather Affects Us” we did a science experiment to show how blubber keeps animals warm in cold weather. Ask your student about how we did this. Take a look at 3 students. I would like to have taken pictures of all but It’s difficult to hold a camera with only one hand while ” blubber” is on the other hand. br />

MATH MOMENT-Practice number facts from 0-10 with your student.
2+6= 5+3= 1+7= etc.
These need to mastered so that they can make connections to numbers greater than 10.
