We had a great first day in Kindergarten! We took attendance (whew-30 kids is a lot of kids!), did some counting and clapping out numbers. We did some WORK TIME at our seats, wrote our first word together (I), had a story about Pete the Cat and did some calendar work. We had some recess time on our Kindergarten playground and even had some CENTER TIME. We were busy today!
Tomorrow will be a full day. Your child will need to bring a lunch or purchase one. Lunch menus went home today with the oldest sibling at Howard School.
A few notes…
Supplies-The only item your child will need is a backpack. I will let you know if something special needs to be brought in to class.
Snacks– I would appreciate parent donations. We will usually have snacks every day. When you are out running errands, grab a box of crackers (Goldfish, Cinnamon Sticks, etc.) and send it in with your child. If, on occasion, you are inclined to prepare some fruit or cheese, Kindergarteners love those snacks too!
Special Classes– Your child will have Art, Music, Gym, and Media/Computer classes each week. We do not have finalized schedule yet for those classes. On gym days, please have your child wear gym shoes to school.
Birthdays-We are trying something new at Howard this year and details will be coming.
Blog-I will be posting a blog and I will try to update it weekly. If you would like an email notice when I make a posting, please visit the district website and follow the prompts to the blogs. Then register by clicking on my name to add your email address. You will then receive an email when I make a posting.
We are off to a great year of learning and making new friends!
