December 14-18

A math chapter 4 study guide will be sent home on Monday.   Please go over it with them.  I think this may be the easiest test they will have this year.  Test will be on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Just a reminder, our Music concert is on Wednesday,  December 16th at 6:00pm.  Please drop children off in our classroom at 5:45pm. Mr. Stinson said they can wear what they like.

Thanksgiving Sharing Soup

We are also focusing on the First Thanksgiving .    We will be feasting and creating a Thanksgiving treat on Tuesday at 2:00 in the cafeteria.  We do have a Leader in Me assembly at 1:30, so we are hoping to be in the cafeteria as close to 2:00 as possible.  If you can volunteer to help serve soup, please let me know!  We will be making the soup in the morning, so please make sure you send your feast donation by Tues. morning.

Pumpkin Investigation

The students had fun investigating pumpkins.  They used their senses and scientific tools to predict and  measure the circumference of their pumpkin, weigh their pumpkin, test if it floated or sunk in water, measured the height in cubes, and scooped and counted the seeds inside. We worked with our friends in Mrs. Serazio’s class.  Here are a number of pictures from this event.

Halloween

We will celebrate Halloween at school on Friday, October 30th in the afternoon from 2:15-3:15.  If they choose to, my first grade students may bring their Halloween costumes to school on that day.  Your child may bring their costume in a bag labeled with their name.  They will be allowed to change into their costumes in the afternoon after lunch.

Costumes need to be bathroom accessible, easy for your child to manage on their own.  Leave any accessories such as wands, swords, weapons, etc. at home.  No masks or scary makeup.

If your child would like to bring a special treat to share with their 19 classmates, please feel free to do so.  Make sure the treats are individually wrapped or packaged.  Please deliver these treats by Friday, October 30, 2015.
