We’ve anchored down another year! Enjoy your summer!

We made it through our First Grade Adventure! It was a short but wonderful year full of surprises and excitement! I enjoyed working with all of my students and their families. I wish you all the best!

Have a great summer break!

SNOW SUMMER CHALLENGE!!

Dear Snow Families,

According to Johns Hopkins University, the effects of summer learning loss (summer slide) can result in nearly a three-month loss in grade-level equivalency in math and a two-month loss in reading.

Your child had a great school year and has learned so much!  We do not want the summer slide to occur as we want your child to start off strong next year!  Reading and math skills can be practiced on iREADY and Zearn.

THE SNOW SUMMER CHALLENGE-  1 hour on I-Ready per week and 1 hour on Zearn per week.  This is a school recommendation, not an assignment from me. I will not be monitoring this during the summer. Please continue to encourage your child to read, write and practice their math skills this summer!

Reading Achievements: Our class has read a total of 2281 books on Epic. My students have read for over 226 hours since we began using this site on March 25th. (This does not include the 208 educational videos watched). Our top reader is Violet, with a total of 256 books read. In second place is Adam with 250 books read. Third place is Rebeca with 215 books read and Fourth place is Gretchen with 208 books read. Keep on reading! Epic books will be available in full until June 30th. After that they will be limiting students to 2 hours a week free on limited books and no videos. Visit the library. Be sure to keep reading!

Report Cards: I will be working on report cards this week. They will be available for you to get on line through Parent Connect and a copy of it will be mailed to you by the end of this week.

Student Belongings: If you were not able to pick up your child’s desk belongings last week, please call the office to make an appointment. The engineers will bring your bag of “stuff” out to your car at your scheduled time. You can also email or call/text me too. We will do our best to make sure all of our student’s treasures are distributed by the last day of school on Thursday.

Photos of students who have begun their summer adventures! Send me a photo with your safari hat and giraffe (in your bag of “stuff”) and I will post it during the week. Then I know that you received it.
