First things first, here are some pictures from our first and second weeks of STEAM. The challenge last week was to make a bus that travels the farthest using a tissue box, 4 CDs, 8 rubber bands, and 2 pencils.
Our first place winners were Hassan, Shahd, and Abrar. Second place went to Mohamed, Stavros, and Ramzi.
Here are our ¨Perfect Failures,” AKA our non-winners, ha!
And this week, the challenge was to build the tallest tower using 25 notecards and masking tape. Hadeel, Nuha, and Abrar took first place.
Way to go, everyone!
Onto what our week will look like come Monday.
Math: We will continue with lines and angles, but will apply the concepts to polygons, especially types of triangles and quadrangles.
Science: Before we get into next week, I have to brag about how well everyone did in proving that gas is matter by creating their own experiments! Everyone had great ideas. I don´t have pictures, but make sure to ask your child! We will get into the properties of matter. Our focus will be how the states of matter change phase and describing their physical properties.
Social studies with Mrs. Brady: They are working on geography!
ELA: We are working on making inferences about characters using dialogue, thoughts, and actions of characters in the stories. In writing, we will be writing our first personal narrative.
Have a happy weekend!
